Your bike looks and sounds mean:)

and Tyler

you should know that the electric start kit we ordered does NOT come with a rectifier diode and you will need one if you want to charge a battery without draining the battery when the engine is off. look on page 19 of this wiring diagram to see where to install it. you can find one at radio shack. just get the highest amp rated (like 10 amp because this coil with the kit only makes 3amps) rectifier diode they have its like 3$.

I was sure that when me and my dad pulled the cover off the ignition module we saw some sort of diode covered in heatshrink about 2" long inline with the charging circuit I think. My dad said "Ohh that makes sence, Must be a diode" I'll have to show my dad the wiring diagram and ask him about that. I was thinking that if it didnt have a diode wouldnt that mean the power from the battery would essentially turn the charging coil into a heating element and burn it out/drain your battery? Thank you very much for pointing this out, I'll let you know if I have any problems.

Tyler.

I whent to install my charging coil today and torque down the flywheel just to find out the back of the flywheel hits the front of the charging coil. Anyone else have these issues?

yes but the problem is easy to fix. just grind down the bolt posts on the engine about a quarter of an inch.

so i got some major progress on the bike! new air filter! new crank case breather filter and carb rejeted! i think it looks really cool with the filters! i fabricated a little bracket for the crank case breather filter. it's nothing special but i really like having the 2 filters there. when i went to the new air filter the engine started running very lean(as you would expect with less vacuum on the main jet because of better air flow) i had to drill the jet out to almost a #100 but it's got great power now! sadly the extra power fraged one of my jackshaft bearings. they came in a cheep kit anyway... does any one know where to get a higher quality jackshaft bearing?

WoW, I love the metal work on the rear fender. What kind of equipment did you use? I have a new design for a future kart where that type of thing would come in really cool.

Looks kinda like he used a bead roller to get the taper on a flat peice of metal and put it on the english wheel...

the basic shape was made from quarter inch round "pencil" stock then i wrapped fleece around it and used clamps to stretch it tight and hold it. then i coated it in epoxy. after that i added layers or fiberglass and epoxy to the bottom of the fender. the top i put a nice coat of bondo on and then sanded it smooth and painted it.

its very strong and lite weight. glad you like how it looks!

one of the videos on a previous page of this thread shows some pics of the process.
