Are u really gonna do 50mph on that bike though? I wouldnt want to push that front bike wheel or the metal that much. Lets just say "its fast enough" XD.

I've had my GT bicycle up to 60 downhill. No engine. Don't turn the wheel! haha

His bike looks way more suited for 60 than my GT does.

U gotta take into account that u will be sitting on it so that adds to rolling resistance. Then there is air resistance which takes off like 10% anyway. So all up, ur looking at about 45mph. I doubt u will go that fast but point is, it has some ballz.

if the calculation says he'll go 60 at a given rpm then he will regardless of air and rolling resistance assuming his engine is powerful enough. resistance only comes into play if the top speed is drag limited, not redline limited like he's calculating. i would gear it a little lower though. thats a pretty high top speed for a chopper. sweet looking chopper though

i think the TAV system adjusts its ratio based on 2 factors the rpm of the drive pulley and the resistance to movement experienced by the driven pulley. so my math is really just a calculation of possible top speed. it's actual top speed will depend on many things. i will try this ratio first though i think just because i think it will be cool to cruse around on this thing without my rpms always being maxed out. on my mini bike with just a centrifugal clutch its annoying that after i get above about 35mph the rpms just stay high.

well on that note i just got my TAV that i ordered in the mail and the jack shaft should be here soon so hopefully i will make progress soon!

getting the engine mocked up to begin figuring out how to mount it !

also in regards to how does my clone idle now that the compression release is removed from the cam. i fired it up today and i think i was right. the compression release was killing the engine below a certain rpm. i can lower the idle quite a bit now and it sounds very cool! i will make a video of it running when i get it on the bike. as for starting it now, it is much harder but i have found that if i just pull the cord until the engine goes just past the compression stroke then pull start it from there it has enough inertia to start up no problem. if you just step up and pull it though and it happens to be just before the compression stroke you will be in for a surprise lol.

i'm not sure yet but after the brakes, exhaust and foot pegs are next on the "to do" list

Rimless wheel.
I have cut out the centre of the rim (the part that bolts to the brake drum) with a grinder & found that two skateboard wheels, with a spacer in between them & profiled later, will run on the inside of the wheel.
I figure I will need 6 skateboard wheels all up, two sets at the bottom (one set being driven from the cycle chain) & another up at the top to keep it all together.

The idea looks real nice at the moment, I need some more skateboard wheels now..

as many times as i have been to the junk yard i have actually thought about these small tires many times. they are cheep come with the rim and are rated for highway speeds.

the reason i think i have never used one is because they are quite heavy, the rims are not symmetrical (they just look different on each side) and the lugs holes don't line up with any go kart or minibike stuff.

if i were going to use one though i think i would spend some time welding a hub for it instead of using skateboard wheels or something. i don't really understand what your idea was so if you posted pics maybe it would turn out to be a really good idea.

theres an electric start kit for the honda clones on ebay would go good with that bike and you can hook lights up to it if desired

i sent a msg to the seller asking if this system will work on a clone engine as well. thanks for the link!

even if the starter wouldn't bolt up to the engine just having a charging system for a headlight would be sweet!

i also wonder if this starter motor is strong enough to start this engine now without the compression release on the cam.
