well, you are welcome? is that appropriate for me to say in this situation? The frame has taken me a lot of time and planning, but its been so worth it so far! Its made building it easier.

And ya, I'd LOVE to get a motorcycle engine, but I think i better start with a dirt bike engine for the $$$ and I dont wanna die ;)
Cool thing is, my kart is long enough to where I could move the seat up and move the pedals past the tie rods and give me PLENTY enough room for a future GSXR 1000 engine???

Ok so...
I ordered some stuff from MFG Supply on sunday. MFG told me it shipped monday, but when I got the fedex tracking number it said that they picked it up on tuesday. On that same night it got to chicago. Now, thursday afternoon, I checked the tracker and it doesnt say that it has left the chicago facility!!!! So since monday Fedex has managed to take my very important go kart parts from Wisconsin to Illinois! And if im am not mistaken, these are bordering states!!!! AAAAND Chicago is in the northern part of the state!

So bottom line, I hate FedEx. End of story.

Well the stuff got here today! And its funny cause remember how I found out there were tapered bearings with the same OD but a smaller (5/8") ID? Well I got them to test it out and it turns out they are the 3/4" ID with those little tiny reducer bushings. Its just sold as a little pack! Ohh well, at least I got new bearings. It needed it anyway!

I also got the pedals mounted and I am pretty proud of how I did it and how it is going to look and be. The cables are all going to be hidden and also protected in the underbody from hitting the ground. I will get my lazy @$$ to take pictures tomorrow when I do more stuff to it!

This kart is so absolutely awesome. Going to be a real rocket.

I'd LOVE to get a motorcycle engine, but I think i better start with a dirt bike engine
A dirt bike is a motorcycle...

If you want to find a damaged bike you should ring up some insurance companies and find out what auction house they use to sell off the damaged bikes. In australia the two main auction houses are manheim fowles, and pickles auctions.

Haha just reading some of posts about the difference between a dirt bike and a motorcycle has made my day :) But yes, I meant I want to start with a single cylinder, no bigger than 250cc engine. Not a 4 cylinder 650 or so cc.

Its been awhile since ive worked on the kart. I just cant find an engine and finals in college have me all busy. One main problem that kinda made me give up was 2 things. I towed it with a rope to give her a test run and I found out that A) the steering actually turns too easy lol. And i think i need to mount the sprockets at an angle so when you turn it puts force on the tires to make them want to go back straight again cause when you are going fast and you turn the wheel, it turns fast and almost locks itself in the turning position. And B) the weights is too far back and I cant get the back to spin out, or hardly even turn for that matter! So maybe in a few months ill pick up the project again when I can justify dumping more money into it....

Instead of redoing the spendles and changing the castor angle, another way to create a self centering sterring is to incline the Kingpin. Some people call this Kingpin Inclination (KPI). Do a search on the term, and it will give you the basics. I would suggest between 15-10 degress for speeds over 40MPH.

This method is just as effective as Castor angle, and I think it is easier to match the two angles of the two wheels.
