update ,i did put stock cdi in it, wouldnt work but thats what led me to petcock cause while putting it in i noticed a small dry crack on gas line so to be safe i went to change and no drip nothing but as soon as any and i mean any amount of vacuum whether minute or large cause it to flow like spigot way hard and not stop even after vacuum stopped ,so grabbed another one off another kart and BAM started up ran right did 40mph

somebody called my customer from this website and said i put wrong cdi in his go kart
i ran that kart 35mph up my street and around my block with an ac fired cdi and then it cut out when i let off gas to go back to idle started it up ran it back home again 35mph
i think you are incorrect and wrong in your assumptions but just in case and since i already gave kart back and charged no labor over a month ago i figured that i had better just say something cause thats bullsh@#

Kart Bruiser. My kart has symptoms very similar to yours. Its a simple Briggs Engine. I don't know what a petcock is but I'm going to go research that. Any advice you could provide would be much appreciated.

OK, after hours of diligent research I see that a petcock is the little valve you use to manually shut off the fuel supply. I don't understand how this part being faulty could cause the problems you described. Anyway, my carb is mounted directly to the fuel tank and there is no fuel line or valve so I guess it can't be the same cause.

This is an old thread but just saw this response.

It was me who called the customer...
I saw his add on CL selling it, stating he was selling because it wouldn't run properly. I simply called the number and suggested he try the stock CDI before he gave up on it and sold it dirt cheap. I told him it looked exactly like a cart on DIY (here ) that another member had questions about. KB stated he returned the kart before ever trying the DC CDI.
My bad for stepping on your toes. Just trying to help. I suppose it was BS - sorry.

Just saw the rule about resurrecting old threads.:oops::oops:

Let's let this one die. Here's the new one: http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/showthread.php?p=356872#post356872 :auto::auto::auto::auto::auto:
