This idea has been floating around my head for a while. I saw a homemade 'mud boat' on the internet and figured that idea can be adapted to a much smaller boat and make it go way faster. On normal mud boats they use a 20-30 hp engine, but the boats are bigger and made to carry multiple people and gear. They still go over 30 mph. If I put a 10hp engine or a little bigger in a smaller boat and carry only myself, I think I can get going pretty quick.
Here is a very detailed schematic of my idea based on hours of research and development:
I have access to a TIG welder so I think I am going to get a cheap, flat bottom, aluminum punt and chop it up and slap an engine on it. I have an 18 hp vertical shaft that I can probably modify to work for this.
And ideas? Input? Criticism? I like this idea. I think it will be interesting. If it works out I will probably build another so we can race.
