Just got back from the memorial at the funeral home. I was not expecting to see so many people there, probably had something like 50 family members and friends show up. Came home with probably a months worth of food. My mom would have loved it.

It's a new chapter in life to start now, hope to make it a great one.

She was obviously a beloved and good person.

Makes me wonder how she could have failed so miserably in the son raising dept.

JK....I hope this helps a bit with the closure....(not my post...obviously...) but the support from friends and family.

I wish I could say it will get better...( and it will...) but it's a tragic thing that will never wander far from your mind. Try to balance the loss with the memories of the good times, and remember...she will always live in your heart and many others.

Not to take away from the passing of Kartorbusts mother but, I now have a similar story...

About 5 weeks ago, my mother had a fall which damaged her shoulder & broke a rib; she's been in rather a bad way since; my sister (Mums carer) has been keeping the family updated with regular txt messages &, this morning, she sent a txt saying "I think whoever can get here should asap"...

Thanks and yes it will be a very happy reunion. Finally get to meet family members that passed on before I was ever born.

Well...as I mentioned...when I was in the hospital...they drained my blood and pumped me full of antibiotics.

I was referring to the amount of times they drew blood for labwork. I got the bill for that....$690.89....53 tests...from drug screening to hepatitis...I think the only things they didn't test for was Ebola and pregnancy!!!!

The upside is....I feel pretty confident I'm still in remission!

So my dad had his angiogram today, which is to see how much blockage is in his heart. Welp short story is, 100% blockage in one artery and 99% blockage in another artery. So needless to say he is going in for heart surgery on Monday or Tuesday. He would need 5 or 6 stents, but being diabetic, heart surgery is his best option of survival.

Despite all that has happened, my dad is still in high spirits.

Thanks. From what I understand, they'll be doing either a double or triple bypass surgery on him and that if all goes well he'll be out this next weekend, but will be off work until early to mid November, unless his work puts him on desk duty. Short term disability sucks. Roughly get only 60% of your paycheck and long term doesn't kick in until your out 3 months.

Trials and tribulations. I'm hanging on as best as I can. Hope the doctor isn't lying when he says my dad has a 99% chance of survival with surgery. Firm believer he'll be in and out with no complications and will be making a full recovery. He's at the hospital because;

The house does not have the equipment to jump his heart.

Driving him to the hospital for emergency surgery if need be is too dangerous, so that also rules out an ambulance, because they are clear cross town.

So they will monitor him fully. 5 days of initial recovery after surgery then a few weeks at home with rehab in there somewhere, then back to work and more rehab. He is in the Cardiovascular ICU, so he is in good hands.

Keep the faith! Like Tony is saying, this is an established procedure. Everything has risks, thankfully it sounds like he's in good hands. You've got a lot of folks thinking about you and your family right now. I hope the vibes get there.

Bit of an update. My dad had his triple bypass yesterday and came out well. No complications at all. I haven't seen him today, as I know he'll be busy walking and recovering. Probably visit him tomorrow.

As I mentioned in post #1535, my mother isn't well, she's now in her final stages of life. As a result, I'm currently back in Sydney for a week or two so, I'll, most likely be "off the air" until I return home...

Sorry man. Take all the time you need to be with family and your mother.
