"One of my favorite sayings.Friends help you move. Good friends help you move a body!"
That is soo funny and yet so true... This on time back in the90's oh wait nevermind.
And yep friends are overrated. and by choice I have very very few. My father in law and my wife.

I only have 2 friends that would help me move a body. None that would help me move though. :( I used to have a bunch of friends, they needed help remodeling their house, I was there. They needed help residing their dad's house, I was there. They needed theirs cars painted, I did it, they needed their cars fixed they knew who to call. I even usually bought the beer too. Then one day I decided to build a garage (28x24) nothing big. After I poured the concrete with my dad I let them know when framing would begin and bought beer and steaks. That Saturday came and only my dad showed up and until this very day I have yet to see any of them and that was in 1992. I no longer have any friends.

That sounds familiar...

Denny, they weren't what I'd consider "friends", they were "acquaintances" who knew who to call for free, multiskilled labour; in short, you were being used...

I don't consider "friendship" to include a "tit for tat" scenario but, a friend will be there if/when you need help in any way &, adversly, as a friend, you would be there to help them...

A few months ago, I had a bit of a mental breakdown, I wasn't in a good way or a good place; one of my closest friends (ironically, an ex) dragged her mother out & drove for almost an hour at night to come & pick me up & take me to her house where I stayed & recouperated for 2 weeks; in that 2 weeks, I put her & my daughter through he!! & I have done anything & everything I can since to make up for it...

Another very close friend (whom I've known for almost 30 years) knew nothing about this situation until it was over; once he found out, he said to me "you know I'm always here for you; even if you want to come over & ball your eyes out, I'll be here"... & I know he would be...

I had someone flake out on me recently. They basically lied to me and told me their car got a flat tire and he couldn't come. when I found out the real reason [and lets be honest if he would of just TOLD me the truth I would of been fine with it.] but he decided to lie.

His car got left on cinderbricks... and he called the police and they showed up and they where all like "so what do your tires look like..." and he describes them. and the responding officer goes "ummm so they look like X Y and Z?" him "Yeah! can you go find them!?" and the officer turns the man around by the shoulders and points into the bed of his girlfriends truck.. "those yours?" LMAO I would of PAID Money to see the look on that jerkoffs face.

I didn't try to hide them... I wanted him to see them right away and get mad because now he's gotta spend that time getting all four of his tires back on! lmao

I don't get why people feel the need to lie...

Some 15 years ago, someone said to me:

"When you lie, sooner or later, you will get caught out &, then, you're in it twice as bad, once for lying & twice for the original offence you were attempting to cover up with the lie..."

IMO, if you mess up, admit it & "take it like a man"; you'll get some negativity but, soon enough, it will be forgotten & you can move on; when you lie & get caught, the one you lie to loses trust in you...

Rant over...

been looking at the yamaha Tenere.. man I really want a good large touring bike. with a good amount of storage options.. Sport bikes are cool and all, but they just aren't practical to me! only thing I'm not really sure about on the tenere is its a shaft drive... I'm just not really sure how long they last compared to the bike. Could they last as long as the bike?! or are they gonna break every 30k miles...

A properly engineered shaft drive will far out live the rest of the bike, just like the differential in a truck will outlast the rest of the drive train and will need about 1/10 the work to maintain compared to a chain drive.

The next best is a Gates Poly Chain belt drive; the last time I was tempted by a Milwaukee product, the belt was warrantied for 100,000 miles.....

That's good to know about the shaft drive. its a good concept and I can see where it delivers better power and smoother compared to a chain. and the nice thing in my mind is - no chain stretch, no sprocket shark fin. No need to drop 90 bucks on a chain every 8k miles because lubing it is such a PITA. [im just lazy I know.. its my fault] lmao plus dragging the chain through sand and only cleaning it off with high pressure water. prob isn't the nicest thing for it either... :lolgoku:

I had my little GS stuck in some what I thought was "low" water. When I stood up, the water was up to my thighs.

THANK GOD I have kept the air filter stock and never went to pods! other wise I would of been sucking in water. and it would of been GG you're :censored: I've taken this darn bike places only dirtbikes should go... I Really should just pick up a 250cc single and quit abusing this poor road bike. lol

You actually lose a good bit of power through a shaft drive on a transverse engine, something like 20%. Longitudinal engines have a negligible difference but that's just because of the inherent 90 degree inefficiency.

The big problem for me with shaft drives is the weight... not only overall, but it puts a ton of unsprung weight on the rear. Just not suitable for my kind of riding!

I checked with Mike Rowe....and he said it was OK to admit that was sewer water you were riding through.....

Not sure what he meant by his additional comment....but he said you were usually full of s#¡7. anyway? ?!!!

My bike won't even go 100 :roflol:

The roads around here can be a little rough, and we have lots of chip seal meaning loads of little hidden gravel patches that look identical to the road. I don't need my rear end taking its sweet time to regain traction every time it slips on a bunch of loose crap.

Ummmm....I'm such a bad dad....Felix is such an imp, too...( Felix is my newly acquired full grown wild Texas rat snake) ....

Anyway, he's bad about tearing up his cage....and especially knocking over his water bowl and filling it full of shavings.....So, I noticed him rubbing his nose on the glass the last couple of days....

I have a limb in there so he can rub his skin off, but I wondered if maybe that's why he was rubbing the glass....A close look told me he needs to shed...

So, I put some gloves on to empty his water bowl of shavings and fill it with water....ooooooh, what a grump!!!! Striking right and left, then striking at me when I walked back to put water in his bowl...

Then he spent at least 5 minutes trying to drain that water bowl....(must have drank nearly half of it).... Maybe he'll take a swim now and shed tonight and get back to his sweet  normal self.

To be honest, this snake scares the bejabbers out of me, and someday he'll probably bite the crap out of me, but so far, he gets much nicer in my lap.
