Post pics up of your home made tools!

Heres my homemade mini forge, it hooks right up to an air compressor. Its made from part of a fire extinguisher and some other scrap, made it in a few hours, i still need to paint it and get a screen. Monday if i remember ill get pics of the drill press vice I'm machining also.

You hook up propane somewhere I'm guessing?

Put some charcoal in there, light it, and the air compressor feeds the fire like a squirrel cage fan would in a normal setup, i just didnt have a squirrel cage on hand.

You guys have never seen a blacksmith work? the old fashioned ones sometimes used hand crank fans or bellows.

i once made a chain breaker... then i realised that the pin "pusher" has to be made out of hardened steel... lol i think i still have it in my toolbox...

Haha oh man! Too bad I cant get pics of the stuff my grandpop has come up with. He invented the pooper scooper before they were being sold in stores. Haha And he has dozens of tools made to work on WWII war planes and the machines that make the parts for them.

I made a milling machine bit out of a allen head bolt to make countersunk holes in a brake hub. it worked way better than i thought it would.

Wow that looks like it worked really well! did you actually use a mill to do the countersinking or just a drill press?

Heres the pliers i made to pull a screen out of a sled gas tank, they worked good.

Heres a non home made tool i picked up a week ago, its a nice baldor pedestal grinder, real old, all cast iron, its got 3/4" shaft and can handle 8" wheels (maybe 10, didnt measure). I got it for FREE from my shop teacher, works great i can put all my weight into it with no bog at all. still gotta get the right size wheels for it, right now all i got is a 6" stone.

i just chucked my home made bit in a hand drill and clamped a piece of steel with a hole in it to the hub to use as a guide

Homemade valve spring compressor for medium duty flat head valve springs. Took me about half hour to make at most but works wonderfully.

yeah, that grinder, um i remember the first time i used a heavy duty drill press. i was drilling holes in the handle of a knife i made. i was free-handing it, needless to say i use clamps from then on. i like having two hands.

I made a valve spring compressor (mk1). I made it from square tubbing with two slits in each side to take out the collets. I made for a car engine(ford 1.4 cvh). All i use is a strong clamp over it and it works a dream
