How many inches when measured with your mm calipers?:lolgoku:

Tomorrow I can just bring the studs with me to the hardware store to pick out some bolts for the intake adapter. I was going out to get the side cover studs, and wanted to stop and pick up the intake adapter bolts too. None came with the adapter. I'm pretty sure 6mm only comes in one pitch, but not 100 sure.

Last time I had no idea what I was doing. I thought the gx390 to gx200 carb adapter fit on with the stock intake studs some how . I was drilling out the holes on the adapter before people on here told me it needed bolts.

Dorman exhaust manifold stud kit

Dorman 03411

M8 x 1.25

Used some blue loctite on the ends going into the block. Hand tightened, then snugged them a bit with a 5mm socket that fits the other end.
Motor oil on the other end of the threads, placed the side cover on, and torqued the nuts to 23 ft lbs in a criss cross pattern using 5 ft lb increments. They are long, which is why they need to be cut when using a TC. The nuts are pretty much flush with the flat part of the side cover that the TC gets bolted to.

Flywheel key 8* advanced.
Flat head screw driver and a hammer tapping towards the block til the stock key was loose enough to grab with side cutters and pull out.

I used a hammer to tap the offset key into place. Tried to get it as close as possible to the way it was positioned before. The back of the key was about flush with the crank and the front was sticking up/out more so than the back.

About 0.077" difference between the stock key and the 8 degree offset key.

Lapping the flywheel. Started with the coarse. Some before, during and after. I'll do the fine tomorrow.

I don't have digital calipers at home, so that the best I could do. It is a m6-1.0, I put an M6 nut on it. Length is about 108mm

Well it says a shipping label was created on the 9th.
But no updates since. Like it wasn't picked up.
They also warn that USPS is very unreliable.
Not that I'm in a hurry, but the anticipation is killing me. I was hoping to get it this week.
Can't complain about shipping under $4

Three attempts at measuring piston to valve clearance.
Either the clay is too thick. Or it is positioned wrong. Or I mess up the clay while trying to measure.
60mm diameter, 1/4" thick pad of clay works well.
0.350" clay is too thick.

Unmilled head. Stock gasket. Stock valves. +.020 rod. 285-0211 cam.

0.135" intake clearance???
0.145" exhaust clearance???

Measurement not really important at this time. I'll measure better when I get the big valve milled head and install the thinner gasket.

Been following this build with great interest.
Are you going to be using head studs instead of bolts?
If so any ideas on what torque you will be setting them at?

I don't like USPS tracking. I've had things show up at my house before tracking showed it being picked up. Good luck getting it soon.

I had the same questions when I ordered head studs for the 420cc.
No torque specs came with the studs. ARP doesn't want to take responsibility so they don't even give suggestions. I researched the torque specs for different size bolts/studs of different grades in different material.

I will probably get the stud kit, but not at the moment. I used the stud kit for the last Hemi I did, but don't remember what I torqued the nuts to. I'll search for it, But that thread is like 100 pages long. It documents me going from knowing absolutely nothing to knowing slightly more than absolutely nothing and I share all I learned.

Give me a few minutes.

Found it. The NR kit comes with instructions.

Lube threads with motor oil or WD-40

Torque to 20 ft lbs

Nice so that's 3 ft lb more than standard isn't it?

Ya the standard head bolts are supposed to be torqued to 17 ft lbs IIRC. That sounds about right, but I just torqued the side cover studs to 23 ft lbs. I don't always follow instructions and I tend to strip everything.
