Ha besides yak hair belts can anyone direct me to a reputable place to buy actual comet belts? I have heard of others getting knockoffs instead.

Alright, i am looking at ordering some tires. I have gone a little over budget but I am not sure about what tires to look at. There doesn't seem to be a specific brand I am seeing anywhere. any anyone have any recommendations on tired for this setup? this is what I found on Amazon. Looked at a couple of other places as well but shipping killed it at a few places and others didn't have the size I needed.

Just as an update i have the thing all sorts of torn apart. The metal cleaned of the bottom.
I have a seat, a torque converter, an engine, and an electrical kit. Starting to look at wheels, brakes and that whole set up. almost pulled everything out of the box so i could start getting a set up ready so I could get a measurement for cutting out the mounting plate. but organized the shop instead.
Thanks for all the help

Those tires look fine. Are your current ones 9" rims? Kind of an odd size but if yours are 9", buy them. Tires are expensive enough. Old cruddy rims can be sanded and painted to look like new, provided they're not bent.

Yeah they are I’ll double check just to make sure. That what the tires on the say but I’ll also measure the rims. Thank you.
Yeah they are a last item however I am about to have a very narrow window to work on this for like 3-4 days straight and I would like to have items here so that I can do that. This is one of the last things I have that I can order without having built the cart to a degree. If that makes sense.

Thread repair went great. I think it has remove the threads a bit but it is more than strong enough especially with the pin and the nuts threads on great! Thanks for the help and one more step done.

Hello again. I have seen multiple post elsewhere that show the torque converter being mounted spring out and spring in. Does anyone know the correct way? With the 30 series they have flat edges so I would assume I would measure from that to line them up but with this which side do I measure from? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Sweet belt up and all all running. But the belt is moving at idle. I have lowered the idle on the engine as far as it can go. Any suggestion?

I’ve needed to “break in” new belts before.
Pretty sure I’ve needed to heat up new belts to even get them installed. I was using a 30 series with backplate. I slotted the backplate mounting holes to add a bit of adjustability.

if the belt moves but the back pulley doesn’t spin (belt is slipping over driven pulley)… it’s not that much of an issue.

As Bob said run it around for a while it will be fine. If not check back in for advice on how to tune the primary for higher shift points.

And if C2C distance is slightly off… that’s why they have slots on engine mounting plates.
(I believe your engine and gearbox are mounted independently and hopefully there are slots on the mounting holes of at least one of those)

If you can adjust both the engine and the gearbox, it allows some adjustment for belt tension and some adjustment for chain tension on the other end.

So we have ran it about an hour and a half. So the belt does well whenwe are at higher speeds. When we let off the cart will come to a complete stop after a bit. But if running at a lower speed it can get stuck running at 2-3 mph and won’t let loose that last little bit. If that makes sense.

May be your idle adjustment is set a bit too high.
Set the back tires up on blocks so you can watch the cvt work. You should see the driven sheave let loose of the belt.
