Has anyone here tried this or at least seen it?

What's the tire size for the factory-OEM tire (the "turf saver" tire on the front right)? It should be molded on the side of the tire. From that we can help you find a new rim and tire to replace the garbage tire/wheel on the driver side. I'm betting it's a 6 to 8 inch rim.

I checked Harbor Freight again. They still do not offer tire/wheel combinations suitable for anything powered by an engine so the fellas replying are still right. It's all for wheelbarrows, carts (not karts), dollys, hand trucks, etc.

That's a good old American-made go kart, treasure it.
Yeah it seems to be similar or the same as a manco? I had forgotten about the tire size until reading these posts, it's a 13x5-6. It's a steel split rim with aluminum hub. I couldn't find anything searching for Carter, although I have seen it mentioned in this forum. The only parts I have possibly found are for manco and they are fairly expensive, like $200 for one rim/tire/hub. Now that I have the exact tire size I'll search some more and see what I come up with.
I'm sorry I didn't post the links sooner, I didn't want to violate spam rules. I was baffled so many people were so opposed to what I was sharing. I plan to order the engine this weekend and let you guys know how it turns out.

Something else I found you guys might or might not find interesting: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DOITJG...7DOAGK9UO&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1
Really cool gel cell battery with lcd indicator telling voltage, capacity etc. If you have a yard tractor or atv, UTV, jetski, it's cheap and really cool.

If I would have seen this 2 weeks ago I would have bought it from the Jungle store! With prime shipping is free! I say go for it.
It's listed as several prices plus shipping on Amazon but they all want shipping even with prime ( I have prime and my gf actually works at an Amazon fulfillment center) Ali Express has a better price and free shipping. Unless you are seeing something different from me, if so please share.

Those are motorcycle batteries. Unfortunately too small for our industrial engines. I need a new one for my tractor after only 6 years of faithful service.
I thought all shipping was free with prime? How expensive is the shipping from the Jungle Store? Allibabba or what ever it is called has to be more expensive after you get it through customs?

For your wheels/rims, you can go with two options: a split-rim that requires a separate hub or a split-rim that takes press-in bearings, no hub needed. I have both types in use on my 3 karts. I don't mind split-rims, they make tire changes easy and the inflation depends on the inner tube and not the sometimes iffy bead-on-rim.

For the hub type of wheel, perhaps something like this:
https://www.bmikarts.com/Galvanized...2-1316-Circle-Includes-58-Bearing_p_1652.html
https://www.bmikarts.com/5-Split-Rim-2-1316-Bolt-Pattern_p_1572.html
Same bolt pattern on each and the hub has precision high-speed bearings installed or included.

There was a glut of American fun kart and minibike makers in the past; big names like Manco, Ken-Bar, Murray, Carter Brothers, Yerf-Dog, Thunder Karts, Rupp that's all I can think of off the top of my head. They were pretty much equal in terms of product quality and features, so yes, very similar to Manco I would say.

These companies didn't always use proprietary wheels and components of their own design, they outsourced them from other manufacturers and the parts were more or less generic, so that makes parts replacement rather easy.

Are you ordering the AliExpress engine?

Post more photos of the kart please. Up close and personal photos so it can save me from asking (too late now) if it's a live axle or a one-wheel drive kart.

Found these 13x5-6" tires, fairly agreeable price ($19.45): https://www.walmart.com/ip/Greenbal...Tire-Tire-Only-No-Wheel/42746835?from=/search

Or even $11.77 :oops:: https://www.samsclub.com/p/13x5-6-4pr-sft-tur/PL984177330?xid=pdp_carousel_rich-relevance.rr0_1
But that's Sammy's, you need a membership.

I might have to pick some of these up. I have 13x5-6" tires on my Ken-Bar and that's cheap.

I thought I posted last night, the tire is a 13x5-6, which are easy enough to find, but the rim seems to be more tricky for what I consider a reasonable price. The rim on what I assume to be an original rim/tire combo is steel with a hub. The closest I'm finding on fleebay is aluminum with the hub built in or really expensive steel wheel that I have no idea of they will fit.

On another note, I tried to share this battery in case anyone might need one for an ATV, UTV or yard tractor, jetski: it's cheap and has a cool display with the status of voltage etc. I ordered one and it will be here tomorrow: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DOITJG...7DOAGK9UO&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1

Ok you posted 5" rim links and 6" tire links I can find a couple of the aluminum 5" rims with hubs but the tires won't fit. I don't know what the equivalent tire is in a 5"

Depending which listing the Amazon vendors want as much as $60 for shipping. Ali Express is free shipping. I actually asked the vendor about the battery size and they said 12v 7ah. Battery should be fine for starting, but not any thing else like headlights.

I wouldn't think that you would want your son to go " go karting " out in the dark.
Headlights look neat in the day time, and everyone says " my, how practical " but the ones on go karts don't put out even 20%. of what's necessary for safe nighttime off road driving. Keep them as a novelty only.

Indeed, daytime only activity, I was only pointing out the battery is strictly for using the starter.

Clutch is fine but be aware of your final gear ratio combined with the height of the rear tires if you go bigger (15" or larger). Most off road karts require a CVT/Torq-A-Verter because of the bigger rear tires and the terrain of course.

Nothing better than a simple clutch though (I prefer riding on flat-ish dirt tracks or the pavement). Riding in a non-suspension kart is no fun on rough trails where a CVT would be necessary.

Ok you posted 5" rim links and 6" tire links I can find a couple of the aluminum 5" rims with hubs but the tires won't fit. I don't know what the equivalent tire is in a 5"

Oops, my mistake. 6 inch rims, 6 inch rims, 6 inch rims. Here you go (for example):
https://www.bmikarts.com/6-Split-Rim-2-1316-Bolt-Pattern_p_1570.html
https://www.bmikarts.com/Galvanized...2-1316-Circle-Includes-58-Bearing_p_1652.html
Same hub as before on 2-13/16" bolt pattern.

I posted links to the hubs, rims and tires as an example of how easy they are to find and at median prices You might find them cheaper elsewhere.

Avoid the low-speed bearings you may encounter. They have a cheap, stamped housing (not machined) with open gaps front and back that let in water and dirt. They really are intended for push mowers and dollies and these are the same as used on the HF dolly wheels.

Indeed, daytime only activity, I was only pointing out the battery is strictly for using the starter.

Electric start means the engine has a charging coil or alternator for recharging the battery, which makes lights a viable option (just like a riding lawnmower).

The lights will dim at idle and brighten at higher RPM, that's sort of what Panchodog is saying, so that's all you really need to be concerned about. I wouldn't tell you not to ride at night and I'm not going to lecture you on Parenting 101. We really have some Safety Karens on the forum. 👩

As a 75 year old man, I certainly am not the Hell raiser I once was at 17. But after raising my own family and being a grandfather for almost 20 years, if using age, experience, and lots of lessons from the school of hard knocks makes watching out for the safety and well being of the little ones makes me a Karen, I will wear that slanderous remark with pride. If you have any kids or grandkids make sure they they ride on rough terrain at night. And make sure you hide their helmets. We wouldn't want any sissy's out there.
