I have just finnished installling a numerous amount of modifications on gx160. i can get it started but the things is running really, really rough. i can barely get to idle. first what should my fuel mix screw be set at? i have it three turns out . also i have a 95 jet in the carb now, it a gx200 carb that is bored out to about to 16mm. i order all new gasket and everything. the valve lash is set to the cam specification which is 002 intake and 003 exhaust. also when rev up with out joke it start to knock pretty hard. the head is 14cc with gx200 gasket for about 10 to 1 compression. can someone help me to get this thing running right??? thanxs any help would be amazing

might be a dumb idea... but are you running higher octane gas for your high compression ratio?

also, the standard for briggs carbs was always 1.5 turns... idk if they are similar or not, maybe you could give that a try... also, i dont know how this is affected by your larger jet and bored carb...

i would wait for jr drag tyler or any of the other guys that have experience with the modded clones to be sure though...
in other words... bump. hahahaaaaa
sorry i couldnt be more helpful, im more of a flathead guy...

without listing the mods, i doubt anyone could say what will work. if it is knocking pretty hard, you may be over advanced on timing. since you can barely get off idle, i would say swap in a bigger main jet to see if that helps. as for idle tuning, 1 1/2 turns is for stock, you may just have to play with the screw. on the miks, they say if you are more than two turns out or 1 turn in to go with the next jet size. if in, go smaller on idle, if out go bigger

If he removed every other fin...should not be a problem. Hopefully, they were machined off.
8° advance seems kind of heavy, even with all other mods. I would drop it back and see if improvement can be observed.

Ditch the bull**** plug and put a NGK in it. 10:1 is pretty high for a air cooled 4 stroke on pump gas, especially with 8* advance. Bored carb and big cam could have something to do with poor idle. Very dangerous idea to run the cast flywheel with 26lb springs. NR says the 0211 is designed for 9.5:1 or lower compression.

the plug was black after 1 minute of running. i put the 90 jet in and workin a little better. im thinking of putting the gx160 head gasket in to lower the compression a bit. i didn't bore out the carb that much maybe 1mm. i asked the guy from nr racing he said my set up should be ok. ill be kinda pissed if i have to put in the dished piston in. i think compression maybe to high. im thinking of taking it to small engine to get it properly tuned. lol kinda fustrating me.

be ready to open your wallet. i don't know how much they charge there, but i think it is 45/hour here. even if it takes 2 seconds. um, this guy i know, he's supposed to be a great mechanic, said he had to put like 50* advance on his chevy. i was like wow, it runs like that? anyway, he is pushing around 600 off of pump gas. i forget what all he did to that thing.

Plug comes out black? Runs rough? Choppy? Blows black smoke like a freight train? Sounds just too rich to me/too much timing.
