I may be wrong but is there suppose to be a bowl on the bottom of that carb since it looks like there is a float hanging there.
If so its gonna be a tough job getting it to run.

What looks like a float exposed on that carburetor is a fuel filter that mounts to the bottom of the diaphragm carburetor that is mounted to his engine.

A band brake is just not going to have enough stopping power with the engine you plan on using. You will need hydraulic brakes now, not later

With all due respect to you I can see by your old photo pitching it sideways that you know what you are talking about

This is what I am driving now, there's not much in the way of new parts on it when I built it . Used frame / used engine / used steering pieces / used brakes / and used wheels . If you are thrifty and sharp about what your final out come of your Kart/Racer/have some fun unit. You can be real happy with your project. I never look at a project as, Oh this will be to scary, just hey man this is going to be a hoot! . Your right foot is were you will find your limit of fun. Too much foot is ether way to much fun, or I need a little less fun with less mash on the gas .

A hydraulic disc setup can be found for as little as $40 or as much as $400; what you need to do is deteremine where you need to go in that range...

As well as being under efficient, it's very easy to find a setup that's over efficient but, having said that, I suggest something from a medium to large sports bike or ATV...

No, you don't! Have you ever heard the phrase

"with great power comes great responsibility"?

By adding an engine to a little go kart frame, you create a deadly weapon; it's one thing to make a kart go fast but, in turn, it needs to steer & STOP as well as it goes! The last thing you want to cheap out on is the brakes...

Having said that, check your local scrap/junk yard...

I am thinking you might have to delete this thread and start a real project log. In ( soon to be 8) 7 pages I have seen a single bolt from a axle sprocket removed.
