Go Kart With Snowmobile Engine Build

I finally decided to start my snowmobile engine powered go kart build, my uncle gave me this manco dingo go kart frame he got for free, which I will use for the build . it comes with some sort of fiber glass racing seat and I plan on ordering the engine off eBay tomorrow it's a 399 CC ski doo bombardier engine Here's a picture of the frame or pictures

Does a snowmobile engine has a keyway for a clutch?

A snowmobile engine most likely has a tapered shaft for a belt drive clutch and a normal gokart clutch wont work for it. I have seen people make adapters for them but you will need to know someone with a steel layth or a cnc machine to make it and to have one made your most likely looking at $80 or more.

If you haven't placed any order's, I would strongly recommend searching the forum for Mysteryboy's threads on using the entire drive train out of the sled to simplify the build. It would probably mean rethinking the choice of frame though.....

I already looked at his thread I already know you have to use the whole snowmobile drive train I was just wondering because I saw this video on YouTube

Your frame also looks fretty flimsy for a sled engines power. I would strongly suggest beefing it up considerably

I already know that or else I could crack the frame

It's a Gokart not tank! . I ran a 350RD with lots less bracing . you do want flex in the chassis or it won't turn . I now run a CRF450 in a LTO UltraMax Centerforce chassis, and has Zero bracing in the frame. There rear this chassis in Video is well laid out for the engine .

You do not need to use the CVT set up out of a snowmobile. I make adapters to fit a Noram Enforcer clutch to fit the tapered shaft that your engine has but remember then you only have one gear ratio and if that is what you want then a clutch adapter is the easiest way to go I have made quite a few of them and they have held up perfectly and the Noram clutch works very well under high power I have a lot of time on this set up with no failures.

Your engine has the same taper as this 277 Rotax 30 mm 1:10 Taper.
I have tried this set up on a 670 Rotax and my buddy has had no problems what so ever.
Another way would to be to remove the crankshaft and have it turned down to one inch and then have a quarter inch keyway milled into the shaft.

Is there anyway to add a out board crank/support . To this adapter set up.

I reckon you ask for x amount more than the clutch width.
