Yeah....not TSC...for one,...and Academy has similar boat seats for about $26...

And really nice fold downs for about the same $$$$.

So with TC's I'd be getting more performance out of my setup than with CC's?

I was pretty set on two CC's but where would I find 1" bore, 3600 rpm, and something to hold up to the torque and hp? Anybody got any suggestions.

Just looking around online and I see the comet 40&44 rated to 13-18hp and that's fine I guess but the max rpm is 3100. And these motors are governed to 3600. Plus I was planning on taking the governors out lol

2 x 40 series TC's is what I'd be looking at.

They Engage around 2200 RPM (~3:1) and at 3100 RPM (~1:1).

I do not think these TC's have max RPM but I may be wrong. They are probably good for 8500 RPM {shrugs}?


I've only ever seen one kart with two TC's (linked in video).

If you find CC's you like post them and see if anybody else has used em?

Just read an article debating the cc vs tc and it said don't use a cc with a live axle because it'll burn the clutch up fast. Is that right? I've seen go karts before with live axles and CC's but idk how long they lasted.

Not really sure.. Haven't read how live axle affects CC's. Hhhhmmm?
But seems to me, the consensus is...
If it's heavy, got big tires, will go off road, or if you can afford it....

Go with the TC.

I'd agree with you on that. Is there kit out there for a 40s series without the pillow blocks and shaft? I think it maybe called a "jackshaft"?

Do you mean a 40series kit that doesn't include the bearings and shaft? (Most don't include)
Or a 40 series kit that includes a backplate with shaft already mounted (so that a separate, additional shaft is not needed)?

Most 40 series that needs separate, additional shaft and bearings are much cheaper.

Still looking $150 each plus the price of the bearings/shaft, but should be much cheaper than $370 each.

On a side note...

Hopefully my engine will be a lot closer to 20 HP than it is 6.5HP when it's ready.
I plan on using the 30 series TC I have been using. I don't expect belts to last very long????

That sounds good bob58o! But yeah I read everywhere that the 40 was the way to go for the horsepower we are looking at. I'm still thinking CC's will be "good enough". TC's aren't a problem I just think a $110 CC will be a lot simpler, less space, and really ill be cruising the whole time I'm riding or wide open which won't be burning up the clutch. I did get to start the break in process of the motor today. Went very good and sounds mean already. & Satan himself touched my arm on the muffler tooNow I'll order the other motor, the exhaust, intakes, rejet kits, remove governors, and already unplugged the oil sensor.

I'm sure there will be contrary opinions on this...but the general concensus is...use a break in oil...then use synthetic!
