go-kart cart build. welding class..

i was gonna go with a GX270 but im a bit short on cash. i have this robin engine sitting in my garage its 5hp and very torque'y. should i run this robin engine or go with the gx270? any one got measurements for the mounting holes on the gx motors? if its the same as my robin engine i could run this engine and then later swap the gx in.

those steering brackets look a little crooked

edit: and backwards? Why didn't you weld the flat [ shaped piece to the frame and use the round part for the axle stub?

The spindle brackets can go either way, doesnt matter. The "crooked" angles are caster and KPI.

well this is very precise my friend, its 20degrees caster and 10 degree camber, UPDATE: i rebuilt the robin motor, the one that i had pics of; posted, it runs great and hard! rated at 4000rpm governed, but i took the governor off way long time ago, its a beast. still waiting on some parts. wheels tires, etc. pedals and engine mount will be put on tomorrow. i built the pedals and engine mount today but not attached to the frame, keep a lookout!

20 deg caster and 10 deg camber is way too much.

no its just right, same thing as race karts. plus the spindles cancel out the camber..

If the spindles cancle out the camber than it isnt camber, its KPI. 20 and 10 still seems like a lot too me, but the person who would really know is Theo, maybe he will chime in.

i have 10º camber and 15º caster on my kart and it works great. 20 does sound like a little high though

well i just need live axle and bearing and wheels and tires. yea the one i built, the one in this thread. not enough money, with my danm car.. LOL car more important than this grip monster go cart, and i have a danm golf cart too that thing is taking up room too. and gahh... omg hella things.

unfortunately yes, if someone would like to buy it. i haven't spent any more time on the car untill now. im bumping this up. i just scored a cool *** pocket rocket rolling frame 2 days ago ill post up pics. i wanna build that. the go kart is bas *** but it takes up alot of room i dont have. i dono if some one is interested in the shopping kart go kart id sell it i may finish it. i dono.

i started tig welding aluminum 3 months ago. now i can tig steel, stainless, titanium, and now aluminum.
