Nah, I am not too sure what make it is.

Are you doing the work in the house!! My wife would kill me

Hi landuse, its hard to tell what make of go cart it is. Maybe a home fabricated go cart, i cleaned the whole go cart before i brought it in one of my big bedrooms to tear it down. Need to clean out my big workshops yet to make room for it to work on, so many projects going at once need to organize more work space. Should i take some more close up pics to help identify the go cart better.

The bigger the engine, the more it weighs. Unless you build that engine to within an inch of it's life or replace it with a dirtbike engine you're gonna have balance issues which lead to handling issues.

With side engine karts, you'd simply move the seat (off-set a bit further) to achieve a perfect R/L balance.

i want to move the motor from side mounting on go cart to behind driver seat. So i will need to do some fabrication on rear frame and suspension to make enough room for it to fit.

I could be wrong, but your kart really looks like it might be a vintage, Enduro racekart. (possibly a Margay!)

I cant see much detail in your pics, but:
Do all the welds/bends look really nice, or kinda home-made?

Is there any brand-name, or numbers stamped into the frame anywhere? (look-closely & everywhere)

It might be worth quite a bit of money if its a vintage racekart, unless you start cutting/modding it... Then it would instantly loose any value in might have in the collector-kart market.

Having the engine on the side like that is a very good thing, It gives you more leg-room and transfers much-more of the engines weight to the front tires, where you need it for better turning ability! That's why they stopped building racekarts with rear engines way back in the early 1970's... Its a bad design feature.

Thanks anderkart, i will look for some numbers stamped in the frame. I was thinking of putting the engine behind the seat instead of on the side, i think i will just leave it where it is since it is all setup and runs great. Hard to tell with the frame welding, some good welds and some heavy boogered welds. hahaha I will post up some closer frame pics of welds etc.
The frame does look well built atleast.

Hard to tell, i will look for some numbers stamped into the frame somewhere. Sanding down the frame for priming and painting right now.

I think i will not change any of the frame until i now exactly what make the go cart is, just in case it is a valuable go cart and old.

I will keep the motor where it is, i was going to move it behind the seat. Probably a bad idea for geometry and function. More hassles, hahaha

Well, i called the old owner of the go cart, he said it was home built not a factory go cart. But it must of been built with some kind of plans from somewhere, you would think. hahaha

More progress today, got the whole frame sanded down and put on three coats of etching primer. Still deciding on the final color to paint it, thinking a nice dark glossy blue or red. Had a great day with awesome progress.:D

I have been working on painting my go cart, so far i have got 2 coats of red on the frame and the floor, linkage and steering have got two coats of silver. Cleaned up the 6.5 horsepower powerfist engine, need to buy a new throttle cable since old one was falling apart. Here is a pic:D

I had no choice since my workshops need organizing to make room for my go cart, i made sure it was clean before bringing in the house. I am done with most of the work for now till i get new racing slicks and rims, plus purchase a new throttle cable. So the go cart is going into my workshops in a day or two once i make the space, i will keep the motor in the house with no gas in it to keep it from the major cold winter weather. I only heat my workshops when i am working in them.

I thought i would put up a pic of my workshops with my go cart finally inside on work table. Also a pic of my seat painted up in black, getting ready to re fab the mounting better. I found a bunch of spare motorcycle parts i had boxed away from some of my rebuilds i have done, found another good throttle cable to use on my go cart. Yeehaw :cheers2:

Hahaha that makes 2 of us! Mine doesn't even attempt to use the kitchen table anymore. She makes me take it all to the garage for thanksgiving and christmas eve/Christmas. The other 362 it's mine. Lol

Today i purchased a new throttle cable for my go cart. I needed to cutt it to right length and working on mounting it all up on engine linkage. When done i can re mount the engine back on the go cart and maybe do a test ride for some fun.

Been working on cleaning up and checking front suspension for any worn parts, bought some new cotterpins and grease for suspension. Engine has got my new throttle cable all mounted up and ready to go back on the go cart, then i can finish the linkage to my new throttle cable and peddle.
