flywheel?

in my adventure to get the honda clone running again, i think the timing is bad, so i was trying to pull the flywheel to check, i put a long thing of twine down the spark plug hole to get the flywheel from turning, yet every time i turn the ratchet it breaks free, or it stays intact but wont turn at all, it goes to the point to where my uncle moved his arm out of place, any idea on how to get it off?

You need a bigger rope. Try tapping the wrench with a hammer, it is like a impact wrench. Takes it right off. Funny thing- 1/2 an hour ago I pulled a flywheel off a 3hp briggs. Took me 10 min to clean the points and get it together.

Also, Dont pull the flywheel yet. Try a squirt of gas in the carb and check for spark. I highly doubt the timing is your problem.

tryed a squirt of it in the carb nothing, i checked spark, bright blue and crisp, and tryed just a little in the head to see if it was fuel delivery and with both, not even a backfire choke and no choke, no run, not anything, and ive tried with not only a hammer, but also my foot, and it always turns

Turn the engine to top dead center and see if the magnet lines up. Does it have good compression? But if you wanna tear of the flywheel you need a rope with a descent diameter

I have never been not able to remove a flywheel nut. Even on engines from the 70s that sat outside for years. You must be messing up somewhere if you cant get it off a newer engine.

turning it counter clockwise? LOL

put a pipe over your ratchet for more leverage.

i just got upset and pulled out the air compressor and impact gun and let that ***** do it, so well i was at it i took off the flywheel, flywheel cover and the gas tank because im going to get the orignial one, so it looks better, matt can you get on aim? and here are the pics of the bike itself and under the flywheel fan, not exactley sure of the flywheel key or if you can see it, because im a noob at this part

From what i can see that doesnt look good. Wind the nut on a few turns onto the crank and smack the nut with a hammer. DO NOT HIT THE FLYWHEEL!!!
that should get it off, so you can check the key.

Can't see a thing. Does it look sheared? Was there one key or two pieces?

it was one key, but looked flat as hell on the end, hang on ill take a pic with my bettter camera

Never mind the pic. If it fills the slot in the crank and the slot in the flywheel, it's fine. Note that many engines use a half round key, which should be flat on one side.
