Hey its me again. Just trying to get some help removing the axle...ive taken out the keys and take off all bolts n nuts but i still cant get it off. Also when doing my research on axles I couldn't find bearings that looked like the ones on my kart.I might try re-using them if I can(the rotate freely but they squeak) But i'm afraid I am going to ding them up real bad trying to get the axle off. I was thinking since it has the 3 hole triangle set up i could just use some 3 hole flangettes on the existing hangers because i don't have a welder and would rather not have to put on new ones.If the pictures aren't good enough I am also uploading a video on YouTube that's higher definition than my phone camera.Ill attach that link as soon as it finishes uploading.

I know this wont help yet... but it will soon:
After you get advice on loosening these up. See pic 2 upper right.
There is a little round divet from a set screw. You wanna sand that smooth, so the axle will slide through the bearings once you get them loose. I could also be what is holing you up. The other divets from the bearing set screws, (shrugs)

My 2 pennies: If you have all the set screws loose, soak it in PB blaster to llosen the bearings from the Axle.

the bearing retainers can be reused (I hope) the bearings will be standard sized, so no worries.

you can pb blaster them and let them soak for a few days and then try to remove the axle;
you could also light up the good ol' propane torch and heat the bearings slightly.

try a few quick bursts of heat on the retainers first to remove them -keeping the bearing on the axle- that way you'll likely be able to reuse those retainers.

if nothing else helps, try to remove the key first, then cut the bearing with an angle grinder right at the keyway (to not ruin your axle)
but that's the last resort!

good penetrating oil and a bit of additional heat to speed things up and you should get them off.

GOOD NEWS! I purchased some loctite rust inhibitor ..followed the instructions and I got the bearings off! Also stumbled across the same hubs on BMI and learned they are cassette bearings and are actually easy to take apart with a simple rotation of the bearing!I'm super excited.Took a little bit of sweat to use a hammer to drive the axle out of the bearing ( I placed a piece of 2x4 at the end so i wasn't actually hitting the axle with the hammer) and the first one came of fairly easy. After get the first off and taking it out of the hanger the second one required some more loctite stuff and the persausion of a 5/16 punch angled into the keyway to get it out but its out and everything seems reusable! although I might go with this Cassette Bearing:http://www.bmikarts.com/Bearing-Cassette-1-14-Bearing_p_493.html simply because its black so i would'nt have to paint it to match the kart..plus its more aesthetically pleasing to me. Thanks for the advice guys ya'll are awesome

After removing the Axle and hubs and bearings and gizmos and all that..I started prepping the frame. Bought some Jasco paint remover and applied it liberally as per instructions.Using a 1 inch putty knife, some areas came off fairly easily. Other places not so much. Applied second coat of remover. Lather, rinse, repeat for about 2 hours before i realized I had a wire brush as well!!! about 3 hours after that I give up and decide I will spend 5-8 bucks on a paint/rust removal wheel for an angle grinder and use that instead. On a side note..i did get my floor panels cleaned up and primered!

Glad to hear you got it all apart.:wai:

Again a little sand cloth on the axle will help it go together easy:thumbsup:

Got a disk for my angle grinder..didn't realize that the gator grip sponge looking disk would be gone in about 4 minutes. Ran back to Lowes and got a 3 inch cup wire brush and another smaller wired brush that attaches to a drill. After working on it for a good while..this is what I have so far. I ran out of paint remover (and daylight lol) so tomorrow ill be getting more to finish the job.Hopefully I can get aircraft remover instead of Jasco paint remover. Also swung by Go Power Sports store in Keller TX and talked a few guys about my kart and my questions. Really knowledgeable folks.

So I was looking at my steering shaft and it has this little bearing type thing that the shaft goes through and it screws into a little bracket in my frame to hold it still..then a nut is screwed in to stop it from comming out. It seems old and worn and was wondering what it was callled or if anyone knew where i could get one id appreciate it.

Last pic, it is called a heim joint.
The others are I believe a steady bearing( plastic I think in this case). often made of bronze.
Heims, can be sought at an auto parts store, the bearings at any bearing shop or most mechanical supply type of shop.

You dont list your location, I cant suggest a place otherwise....
