It's still a culture thing

A primary school teacher with there finger on the trigger would not have saved the kids
It's easy to say " I'd have cut that SOB in half with a large caliber gun

But few people I know would have it in them to point a gun at anougther person and pull the trigger

I know people who think they could do it but really wouldn't
Then u add the stress and confusion of a robbery in the middle of the night and most people would break down under the pressure of the situation
It gets dangerous when u give a gun to a young woman and tell her it'll keep her safe
Then a total stranger happens to be going the sane way as her
She gets worried and shots him
A poor bloke in perth got stabbed while offering assistance to a drunk woman

It's very rare for someone to break into your house in the middle of the night to kill u unless u happened to have pissed off the bikers
In that case u will get mowed down any where and its your own fault

Otherwise burgerlers break in during the day when no ones home
If they try to steal from u while u are at home then yes u do need guns to weed out the really thick genes floating around

I've had a young "native" kid try to get into my house at night
But he was so determined to get the fly wire out that I walked up behind him and smashed a bottle on the wall next to him
He cleared off pretty quick and the cops got him later on

EDIT
It's just occurred to me that u Americans wouldn't use or know of fly wire
Google it
It's effectivly a fine wire mesh that goes across every window in the house in every house on the country it's to keep out the flys and snakes
If any one wants to break in they have to get the fly wire out and have to make quite a racket for a few minutes
And of course because everyone grows up with fly wire then u don't notice security screens
And u can't get through those without serious tooling

Yeah it would suck knowing someone could get in and back out of your house without making any noise

EDIT 2
Don't google fly wire that's a pair of shoes
Fly screen or Australian fly wire

If you saw gunman killing babies you think some people could not pull the trigger? Not trying to be sarcastic but babies or school kids has to be some kind of line to cross with most anybody packing a gun and able to stop crimes like this. I just can't see a person say I could not pull the trigger and defend the kids and my life.

That being said I have no clue what I would really do in middle of shootout. Even if I had my gun. It's just one of those things. All I know is I have a chance and my last words are not "if only I had a gun"

American gun rights are to defend the people from a tyranny government. It's that simple. Our founding fathers went thru all the bull**** and wrote the Bill Of Rights well with only the people in mind. They knew what happens when the Queen takes all your guns. History has showed us over and over again.

Sure the American people are not a match for todays military. But the resistance would be unheard of when it comes to the history of mankind. 70% of the worlds guns are in America. 300 plus million if I remember right. This scared the hell out of Japan in WW11.

mmmm I have read through most of the posts here...... walked away and came back at least twice......

What I found interesting and a little disturbing was the structure on which this occuring i.e.

Folder: DIY Go Kart Forum > Other Stuff > Off topic Fun - Firearms

Very little of what I've read could be called "fun".........

mods???

and FYI I am a "gun" owner...... 12G U/O Berretta, 12G Winchester, BSA 22, and had a Ruger 22.250 SS Varmiter for a while (beaver tail laminate stock etc).... currently enjoy "dusting" a few trap clays for fun atm. Use an American Trius trap thrower for the clays...good fun! (and makes for a strong arm!)

So if you don't like something you call for censorship? Just for you don't like something don't take that something from me. Don't like porn then don't watch it.

Part of the problem.

On another forum someone made a good point, they were discussing a few gun shoes(Sons of guns is one I believe) that were dropped due to recent event, but those arnt a problem compared to these these "criminal minds" shows and other blasted shows that use gory murder as an interest point. :ack2:

Anywho...
Gone start to get some different weight bullets an see what my rifle likes better...

Then hopefully i can get it sight it in good. Then maybe if I get a chance to use it hunting next year Ill have me a nice pile of meat.

Ive decided Im going to look for a single shot shotgun this year at the flea markets. I usually see a bunch of em.

No Bighead, no.

I just couldn't see any "fun" in some of the threads content and subject matter. As this is a DIY Go Kart forum...... off topic "fun"

I'm sure there are plenty of other sites where these valued opinions should be taken up.

As for the Porn..... :lolgoku::lolgoku: knock yourself out buddy!

Fastgrass- We do call the subcategory "Off Topic Fun", and no, it's not always fun. It doesn't have to be "fun" to be posted here. Folks rant (including myself), and get into all kinds of varying topics. We ask that you keep it clean, free from personal attacks against other members, and don't get overly political- as politics tend to turn things ugly and fast.

Other than that, it's pretty open. The mods are here and watching, but we don't like to bang the censor gavel down every time somebody has a disagreeable viewpoint or whatever. As a fellow member, if you see something you don't like, you have some choices:

-Post your disagreement
-Report it if it does violate the standards
-or just ignore it.
-Cheers!

As an aside- I have seen people up and leave the site, never to return, because of something they saw in Off Topic that they didn't like. You can call this an option, I call it overreaction. But, whatever rubs your Buddah...

My thinking on American Bill of Rights 2nd Amendment. Some people don't understand protection from your own government thing. You may not like it but it's how lots of us think.

How many times has governments killed their own people?

Yes Sir I love our Sheriff. Not to be thread bumper but I see problems coming over new gun laws. Obama will do some bans today. I think lots of people will be protesting his decisions. New York has 1 million AR-15's alone in private owners hands. In the last week americans have bought enough guns to outfit China and India's military. 70% of the worlds guns are in America. 300 million firearms in private hands in the USA.

So yah if Obama gets crazy I see lots of really pist off people. New York banned any mag over 7 rounds. Connecticut outlawed any gun over 1 round. If this is the case then expect protesting that may get ugly. Your talking millions of people saying over my dead body. Obama plans to use Executive Order to change the U.S. Constitution. Mix that with people losing gun rights cannot be good. The Constitution is in place to stop Presidents from acting like dictators. We will find out today if Obama's oath to the Constitution means anything to him. Or if he is the Czar.

What's to dislike when citizens demand their elected officials uphold the foundational laws of their country?

Tell you what guys, as soon as you are a citizen of the United States, live here full time, pay taxes here, and vote here, then you have a say in our laws.

Umm, who said I disliked anything about that? TBH I really don't give a rats arse what happens over there. Kill yourselves as much as you want. Have guns and shoot each other. As long as it doesn't effect me, I don't mind.

Just because you have rights to guns, it doesn't mean you need them. Have a look around other countries and how they work. But, I suppose that would be to hard..

LOL! Tell you what, as soon as you(US) are a citizen of the Iraq/Afghanistan, live there full time, pay taxes there, and vote there, then you have can have a say on what happens.
