Geez. And to think, I was annoyed when I had to wait two days for the state background check to come back on my last shotgun...

If you buy a gun in CA, there is a 10 day grace period you have to wait before you recieve it.

Their background check computer was down when I went in, was back up later so I did get my 30-06 that day.

Part of me doesnt really like all the registration and jazz for a firearm... I dont know. lol. :roflol:

I think that they should monitor ammunition more than the actual fire arms. It seems that most gun problems involve the perpetrator buying large quantities of ammunition in a fairly short period of time.

Apparently you don't know any competition shooters. Even an amateur competition shooter can go through 5,000+ rounds of ammo in one weekend.

Yeah, registration is the kick that starts the ball rolling down the hill. If that ever happened, I'd bet there would be alot of boat accidents reported.

Bottom line is, an armed populace is able to defend itself against madmen, criminals, and tyrants.

I'm extremely suspicious of anybody who wants to reduce my ability to do so.

Then again, I'm a bitter God- and Gun-clinger, just so's you'll know...

Heck ya! I'm not a amateur competition shooter but I have gone through about 8,000 rounds of .22 ammo in a weeeknd before starting to mess with shotguns and blue rock.... so it is easier than ya think.

Ive been thinking on storing up on ammunition... several years worth. Havnt decided how much I want to get, but would like several hunnerd for my 30-06, and a bit more for the 303. and then several thousand for the 22.

And ofcourse all the necessary reloading supplies to last for several years.

Seems ammo will just continue to go up n price, get while the getting good. Ive hear mention buying firearms is equal or better than gold and silver... less the government does something goofy, a good firearm should keep its value.

Even something like a Mosin Nagant, around $100 now, in a few years could be $150-200. Back in the day a person could get a 303. Brit(im sure others too) cheap, now theyve gone up in price for the originals. For example anyways.

Ive kinda been thinking it would be fun to get a 22. for long rang shooting... dont know if Ide be any good, but I think it would be kinda fun.

:iagree:

Anywho...
So looking around I found Privi Partisan 303. British ammunition for about $15 for a box of 20. Now when I go back it says access denied and they dont list 303 on their website anymore.
I really dont want to have to pay 30+ for 303 British ammunition thats not good for reloading. Doah.

I hope they get it back, I was hoping to order a few boxes worth...

I did find it HERE too, but it is "sold out"...

Although, I did find Remington 303. for $23 at walmart of all places... I was kinda surprised that even had 303...
Found out the local hardware store sells 303. too, that was a surprise. But its about $35 for a box, and the brass is thin and not good for reloading much. :ack2:

Ill figure something out. :roflol:

I hope this crap all evens out. :ack2:

Hopefully they do manage to ban assult rifles

As toystory they are made purely to kill at mass

If u are hunting on auto then u really need to think about conservation
Of course there are a every small number of times in a small number of people's lives where mass extermination is required but that doesn't really justify havering them readly for sale

And if u need an auto weapon to protect your family then u shouldn't have pissed off the whole neighbour to point of riot

Disagree - the whole point of our 2nd Amendment is protection against gov't gone wild.

Banning guns based on their appearance is silly.

Appearance? What is appearance? It APPEARS that a full-automatic machine gun/assault rifle is (and you'll pardon the pun) overkill...

I would never dream of taking away a man's right to defend himself/ his family/ personal property... But what you you need? A nuclear warhead to do it?

There HAS to be reasonable limits.

The purchase of new, fully-automatic weapons by civilians has been banned for decades. There have been TWO cases of legal, fully-automatic weapons used to commit crimes EVER in the US. One involved a cop and was owned by law enforcment.

That's a relief... Call it a misconception. It certainly LOOKS like there's a lot of them about. So, is there a large proliferation of semi's that LOOK like the real deal or something? And what about your "NEW" comment- Please explain.

The M16 and AR-15 are were built on the same platform. One's auto, the other is semi-auto. There aren't many visible exterior differences.

Since the National Firearms Act of 1934 (NFA 1934), all "Title II" weapons have required registration. Title II weapons include machine guns, suppressors, short-barreled rifles and shotguns, grenades, bombs, etc. Purchasing a Title II firearm requires extensive background checks, permission of local authorities, lots of paperwork, and a $200 tax stamp.

The NFA was revised in 1986 to make the manufacture of Title II firearms for the general public illegal. They were [somewhat] smart and decided not to go door-to-door collecting Title II firearms from their owners, as that would have ended badly. As thus, Title II weapons which were on the Title II registry before May 19th, 1986 are legal for citizens to buy, own, and sell. Anything newer can only be owned by law enforcement, military, etc.

There's still some ugly in there, but thanks for the explanation. Curious- Between the M16 and AR15- if they are built on the same platform, couldn't a less-than-wonderful citizen swap some parts around and skirt the law by converting to full auto?

Full-auto trigger and sear parts that would allow one to convert to full-auto are illegal without all the Title II crap.

Anyway, I believe there are several differences between the two that prevent some parts from being interchangeable. Not my area of expertise.

Here's a pic of my friend's registered M16 w/ 40mm grenade launcher:

We can legally get these firearms as semi auto. They can be converted. I've got a buddy with a converted AK-47. **** thing overheats and jams up after a short burst. Just not designed to be full auto. I've got a Ruger 10-22 and a book of instructions to make the switch. I'll be doing this one day. It's for fun guys. Me nor any of my buddies are exterminating anything. Wellaybe old oil jugs. Hell I've never killed anything but an insect. I'm a jolly giant. I dont even hunt because I don't want to kill anything. I'll eat it but I don't want to be the guy to kill it. We go shooting for fun. Here in America our second amendment gives us the right to have guns. We don't mess with the constitution. We let those weasels start that and it'll go to hell in a hurry. The pre 86 full auto's cost a fortune. Someday I'll have a legal one. These few bad apples shouldn't ruin it for the rest of us. Just bought me a nice little toy tonight. And another Tri zinger but that's another story. Lol
I'll enjoy my guns. Thank you very much! If you don't want them don't buy them. Simple as that. If your afraid of them I never said you had to have one. I'll never harm anyone unless you invade my home or try to harm my family. If you do. I'm gonna ruin your day:thumbsup: I think it was Teddy Roosevelt who said it. "speak softly but carry a big stick!" These goons ever try to take these from me I'll give them my bullets..... I'll even warm them up first!
