What type of carb is it? Fixed or adjustable jet? How's the fuel flow into the bowl (fast or weak)?

The carb has only one screw to adjust(idle speed)and the gas flow is plenty(when I pull the fuel line off gas pours out.It looks like the carb #18 series 8.

Every time I remove the carb to adjust the float I blow it out pretty good with air. If the main jet is plugged, whats the best way to unplug?

Check to make sure your needle seat is still there. Tecumseh uses rubber needle seats, that get blown out very easily with compressed air.

The needle seat is still in place. I've only used maybe 20 to 30 psi to blow it out, didn't want to mess anything up with big blasts of air. How much would it take to truly be effective in unplugging jets?

you have to use thin wire or a fray of a wire brush and go thrue the holes. Generally 2 larger holes near the bottom and 1 tiny hole near the top, and one more hole straight through

Is it possible, could the governor be adjusted? Thats about the only thing I haven't tried yet. About 25 years ago I used to build n rebuild these small engines, whats the deal with this governor crap? Do all small engines have this now? Can it be adjusted?

Before I get back out there, one quick question, should the breather tube be sucking or blowing? The tube coming from the vavle cover, going to the carb.

The fixed main jet is the bowl nut. Blow compressed air or carb cleaner through the bowl nut from the drilled end (air or carb cleaner should exit the two side holes near the hex-end of the bowl nut). If pumping the primer while opening the throttle will get it to rev up more you're lean and need to figure out why you don't have high-speed fueling.

The PCV should probably be blowing out the motor and into the carb to burn the oil vapor for better emissions. You could vent the tube from the motor to atmosphere and plug the hole on the carb to test if you suspect that's your issue.

THANKS A MILLION!!! the children will be so surprised when they get home from school. It was indeed the main jet was clogged. I don't think any amount of air would've gotten that out. The garbage tie wire was too weak so I straightened out a very small paperclip and used it,still, had to apply alot of pressure to push it through. I just knew the air was good enough, boy was I wrong. It's running as smooth as I could ever hope for now. Have already been up n down the road. Only one bad thing now, spins out like crazy,my poor yard will surely suffer now. AGAIN, THANKS A MILLION EVERYONE. May GOD bless you all.

Your Welcome! You might want to consider adding an in-line fuel filter, to prevent debris cloggin up that jet again
