What do the neighbors think of the angle grinder at 3am? :devil2:

my neighbors are spread out enough that so far it hasn't been a problem. not to mention the death metal i've got going through the stereo with lots of bass. :)

apparently though i've gotten the attention of the local cops (which the station is a block from my house). when i got "busted" making a video across the street a few weeks ago the cop was all too familiar of the go-karts and buggies that i build in my garage/driveway. lol. he was impressed with the workmanship - just not me riding around on city property. lol.

brake pedal done. cv axles mounted. about 10" of clearance for the sprocket and brake rotor (milk crate next to them for reference). i will be reinforcing the spool bearing plates with a square tube frame. they're just tacked in place for now.

i ended up recessing the inner trailing arm bearing plates to create more room for the CV axles. i also changed the angle of the rear bottom of the frame to allow better clearance for the sprocket/rotor spool. it was a productive evening!

couple of videos and some pics for ya. :)

rear sprocket/rotor spool mounting plates reinforced, rear brake caliper positioned and holes drilled to mount it. need longer bolts, thought i'd just be going through 1" square tubing, but the 1 1/4" round tubing was in the way. so i'll be welding the square tube to the round tube, and running a 3" bolt through it to mount the caliper. did some more grinding.

can't find my camera. it's actually my 10 year old daughter's - gave it to her for her b-day back in june. helped her reset her youtube password earlier today, and that was the last i saw of the camera! dug out a cheesey little digital camcorder, but the AAA batteries were dead, and no new AAA batteries to be found. bah...

tomorrow night will finish mounting the brakes, and possibly tearing the snowmobile apart!

finished the rear brake, welded the CV axles together (had shortened them about 4 inches or so), and did some finish welding on the rear sprocket/rotor mount.

ripping apart the 92 Yamaha Venture 480cc 56hp snowmobile, fan cooled with reverse. Dang shame, such a nice sled. :) the motor will be better suited in the Venom.

hack off the motor mount part of the sled frame, weld it to the buggy, mount the motor, hook up wires and tank, attach body armor (lol, actually side/front/rear splash panels), make the rack, roof and hood, fenders, floor, "dashboard", test drive, tear it apart, finish grinding, paint, then slap it all back together. :)
