Dingo rebuild

Some backstory: I got this kart almost a year and a half ago, really my grandparents did. It was down in North Carolina. I'm in northeast Ohio, ~500 miles away. It sat there for multiple months and on a trip down there we stripped it down and brought all the parts up. Rusted out back wheels with dry rotted tires. Rusty torque converter, shot bearings and a worn out sprocket.

All the parts sat for months where I'd use them for other projects when I finally started getting them prepped to go back together, welded ground and painted the rims and put tubes in the tires.

Now I've been working on sanding the frame now that the floorpan is off so we can weld a new one on.

I got parts as a birthday gift, so springer spindles to replace the worn out ones as well as an intake for the Gx 160 that will go on it. Just today I got the other back tire mounted with the help of a friend and mocked up where the axle would be and also an engine, subaru as a substitute for the gx160 right now or a kartfab style big block, which will be more modification/money/time/fun.

Thanks! And I don't know, I still have to clean the while bottom of the frame and cut the floorpan and get it all welded, and fix my hubs, plus I don't have a seat and will have to make one from scratch pretty much.

And for whenever JT sees this I have the briggs and will be taking the bronda aproach because I needed the carb for the other one.

I feel the pain, have to rebuild the 13hp honda, build an exhaust for it, bearings all around, new floor pan, continue correcting the stretch, ect ect ect. Private build off between us jist for fun dingocat?

This looks like it'll be a fun restore. Does the GX160 you have, have a stator so if you wanted to run a light on the roll bar?

Haven't gone back to the barn yet, I think I'm going to go with the 13 though, it runs just needs the tank and in this case one somewhere else. Saw a vid on instagram that a guy made a homemade adapter out of a thick piece of steel and bolts.

21x12-8 tires, and maybe smerft. Depends on how much it's going to cost.

I tried to bolt up 30 series and it hit the block in all of the "normal" positions. Jackshaft time. And did you have a 30 series on yours smerft? I'd get a 40 series but they're pricey. And my dad is fine with putting the engine on the kart, he'll be doing a good bit of the welding. I'll do some but he'll do most of it. Haven't really started welding yet. and the only neighbor who does this type of thing threatened to call the police on me.

Pretty sure it's a 40 series being on a big block, don't thing it even has a belt on it honestly, I pulled the jackshaft and clutch along with the motor. With lots of practice welding becomes easier. For light stuff like karts I can't recommend the Lincoln weldpak series enough, flux core mug and it plugs into a standard outlet. I've fixed stuff on my off road trucks with it and it welds stronger than I thought it could.

I left the stuff out for a month and my dad cut and welded on the floorpan. Looks good and is sturdy lol. I was going to do it this weekend too. He did it while I was at work.

More work today. Took all the rust off of the front half. Primer. Have to do the rest still but it's looking good.

Or cut the old out and place new metal altogether? Otherwise looks like progress has been made, I hope I didn't get him working too fast after offering a friendly dingo buildoff!

I'd cut it out and add new metal. It'll last a lot longer and be more sound.

I don't really have the tools or materials to put new metal in, minus the floorpan. The pitting is in the front and there is bracing. So I'm going to roll with it.
