Whoa, that's pretty cool. I didn't know they had diesel engines that small.

i think (im just guessing) that gas leaves other stuff that can be used for plastic and other stuff meaning more $ in the end. eitherr way, the military diesel dirtbikes get double the mileage of a comparable 4 stroke gas, which is obviously enough to offset the 15% - 25% or so more the fuel costs. unlike ethanol which takes tweaking with carbs/fuel injection, biodiesel is jut a direct replacement and it's clean and pretty easy to make too.

Veggy oil

Kinda like the idea of just filtering the veggie oil - The plan would be having a small tank of diesel for starting a cold engine than switching to the veggie tank after warmup - use heat from the exhaust to warm up the veggie oil. Another way is a 50/50 mixture of diesel/veg oil and do away with the heating idea. Since the diesel engines are relatively low RPM I was thinking of a offroad bike - Tall fat ATV tires for woods riding. Making biodiesel can be messy.

well sure it can be but it's not harmful to the environment so if you work outside and spill, who cares. its not like gas where you dont know whats gonna happen to the grass and whatever else it gets on.

diesel is more $ because outa the one barrel that they have only about 15% comes out diesel while 75% gasoline
the rest is used to make oil's, plastics, asprin ect.

you could get a 2 or 3 cylinder from a small tractor or trailer generator. used or broken would be cheaper
20-30 diesel hp. thats about 40-60 ft/lb torque

Ive seen people take the diesels and turn them into high comp. Gas/alcohol race engines. Pretty cool.

Recipe for a cheap diesel using a briggs 5hp flatty:
Beef up con. rod with some flat cast iron
Smear JB weld on top of the piston
Take out head gasket
Make some kind of glow plug out of a bolt, wire, and a car battery
Heat up the valves WHITE HOT then dunk them in ice cold oil/water mix
Replace recoil rope with cable to compensate for increased compression
Put Diesel fuel into gas tank
FIRE IT UP
