i am now thinking of using a lynx deoderent can near the end as a silencer, but i cant weld it as it is made of aluminium. how else could i keep it in place?
here is a pic of my idea with terrible photoshopping!
i was going to use 30mm i/d tube/pipe and have it going right through the can, with a few holes drilled in the tube when it enters the can, and a few holes in the end of the can.
You can drill a few holes in the side of the can and put some springs in there, then stretch them back and attach them to the pipe, you can weld a few wasters upright on the pipe for the springs to attach to.
Putting the lynx can on the end with just a few holes drilled in the pipe and a few in the can wont do as much as if you put it right over the top of the pipe and drill a bunch of holes it the can. Or if you have one pipe going into the can thats blocked off at the end with a bunch of holes drilled in it, then another pipe in the other end, also blocked off with a bunch of small holes drilled in it.
Heres the inside of a car muffler, and thats kind of how you could set up the lynx can, except smaller and a little different (pipes dont have to be offset, and you dont need the separate chambers).
I just went out and whipped one up, i dont see much power loss myself, i made mine pretty high flow, and it sounds nice. I doubt i'll use it though, because i need all the power i can. I have a 100c bike engine on mine and its geared for 60mph haha so every little bit counts. Anyways, yea r chez, using the bigger id pipe on each side like locking collars would work good.
im no worried about a small power drop, as i probably wont use it all for a while.
i dont want my exhaust too loud, as i think it would **** me off. i just want to do whats best for the engine, and apparently even some of the worse custom mufflers are better than a stock exhaust.
