hi. i have a single person manco critter go kart. it has a 5 hp robin engine and a centrifugal clutch.

the problem: i have recently decided to sell it and now when i go to start the engine it wants to take off. i believe it is a clutch problem but i dont know. i can manually turn the drive tire and the crank shaft will not turn. granted i have never lubricated the clutch but tried to today. the tire seems to move more freely but the same problem persists when i start the engine. can anyone help?

Most clutches dont have bearings, only expensive ones. So most likely your bushing is worn but it may just be a high idle problem.

Sounds like a broken clutch spring to me. He said he can easily rotate the tire without the crank turning. Meaning the bushing still rotates good on the clutch.

thanks. i was able to take the clutch off and cleaned it up. it works perfectly, nothing wrong with it. except the problem perists. i have a strong feeling its idling too high and i am going to try to play with the throttle tomorrow.
