Need more pictures to say for sure. It IS one wheel drive. Lots of fab work to change that.

I wanna see that CVT with the green/blue belt. Not sure ive seen one like that. Looks like the driven pulley doesnt expand?

Actually, I really wanna see more of the entire kart.

Here's the belt number.. is there any way to weld the other side of the axle to make both wheels spin.. I really dont have the cash to install a live axle right now

No way without serious modification. I dont think, at least.

Easiest way would be weld on bearing mounts, mount a solid axle, power it with a 30 series CVT. I believe you would need to alter the jackshaft to run a sprocket rather than a pulley. You would need that to keep your gear reduction or you will be left with a sprocket too small, burn up belts/clutches. -Or without the jackshaft (for gear reduction), you would need a sprocket larger than the wheel its mounted to.

What you have is a centrifugal clutch that drives a belt instead of a chain like we usually see.

its hilly and grass where he drives it... what is my best and cheapest option here?

Drive it as it was intended. It is what it is, a one-wheel-peel. If it is really hilly and "rutty" to the point where it gets stuck and the driven wheel just spins freely or "digs a hole" in loose dirt, the kart really has no business being on such terrain because the kart has no suspension. It's an "old school kart" and might best be driven on flatter off-road surfaces. Think: dirt track, pastures, fields, semi-developed trails, pavement, parking lots, dirt roads, gravel roads, etc. I myself am not a big fan of being bounced around hard off-road in a rigid kart. It'll make your hiney sore! 🤕

If you want a real off-road-capable kart, you may have to upgrade to a full suspension little buggy. That sort of thing is readily sold at Tractor Supply but they call them "karts".

Anything Coleman or TrailMaster brand [although there are many many more brands] would be your best bet.

It is a nice Carter Bros kart you have there, however. That one must have been cared for or stored in a shed or garage for most of its life. You can take pride that it is an American made kart at least. Most everything newly made these days is Chinese...

If I could replace the pulley's on the clutch and jack shaft would i need to do a 10 tooth on clutch and 60 on jackshaft??

Doesn't the kart run and drive already? That was the impression I got.

I didn't say roads like with cars and traffic, but dirt roads and trails and such. The terrain can't be such that the kart gets "empty space" under the driven wheel. Then again if it happens, you get out, you drag the kart until its on solid ground and then drive on.

If I could replace the pulley's on the clutch and jack shaft would i need to do a 10 tooth on clutch and 60 on jackshaft??
That won't change anything.

Or a torque converter?? And then weld the wheel bearing??
It already has a torque converter basically. This kart is designed to power only one wheel. Sorry that it won't be the perfect gift that you envisioned, but that's on you [for not knowing]. 😄

Yes it runs good.. but it does need a new clutch and belt... I guess I will keep it as is till I can do serious work to it... I really do appreciate the advise and help... btw.. what kind of clutch with a pulley do I get??

I am not 100% certain because I could not find a manual for a Carter 2606-KX. But the clutch and belt should be available.

This might be it. I will wait for someone else on DIYGK to chime in for confirmation:

For the belt? I don't know. I assume the one that is on it is correct and if so, replace it with an exact duplicate.:worried2:

It acts the same as say, a jackshaft setup on a Coleman minibike. There is no variation of gear ratios. The belt remains (should) taut its entire life, keeping a constant coupling of the clutch and driven pulley. The only variation in the whole assembly is that of the clutch weights.

I figured that out by looking at it, actually. I didn't want to clog up the thread with any more mindless rambling lol. But I just naturally assume that when I see a belt and two pulleys on a kart that it is a CVT/Torque Converter. Now that you say this, it looks kind of flimsy.

Maybe Tennhi should do a chain driven jackshaft then? Or a CVT on the existing equipment?
