I'd say there's some deactivation going on now.
For the speed you seem to expect, your kart better be built to Bonneville Land Speed Record safety specs, or you're going to die.
No two ways about it.

I thought that this was a Bonnie run... A last one....mind you it wouldn't even get through the first stage of safety check...

So going fast is one thing.... Safely is another...
A Bonneville run is a whole other realm not really discussed here, it kinda has to be a whole other realm itself aside from racing period..

The 144mph record while confirmed, is unofficial as karts are limited to 140 at Bonneville for safety reasons.
Our record seeker is in England, I have no idea where he plans to break 200.
Wherever it is, it'll be spectacular....once.

This go kart, if all goes to plan should be able to hit more than 200 mph and yes I am kinda crazy when it comes to going fast in a straight line :)

I have been tested and I have an IQ number of 137. However sometimes my brain can deactiviate:)

:surrender: :surrender: So, does that mean you've been known to go terribly wrong, but with extreme confidence???

And don't get the wrong idea - we aren't picking on you (well, maybe a little)- we don't want to see you get hurt.
Going fast is ok.
Being safe while doing it is better.

Still waiting for answers to my questions

:funnypost: :lolgoku: I really hope you're not holding your breath. This thread is forming up to be like another one that claims great things, but just can't seem to remember to actually document it with photos... And if you've seen my latest post in that thread, you'll know what I mean...

I have been on my profile and I have answered the 5 things it has asked me to i don't know where to find the other stuff where I can write information.

---------- Post added at 08:17 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:12 AM ----------

In England I can max the go kart on a disused run way safely. It is going to have a full roll cage stiffening front middle and rear four point harness and a kill switch just the safety i going to cost more than 2 grand. I am not going to be cheap on safety when I am going to be driving it. The centre of gravity will be so low I won't have to worry about flipping but just in case I going to put metal bars which don't touch the ground but make the go kart seem wider so if i do spin i can grind on the bars so i don't flip. As for me I will be wearing a full track suit with helmet

No I'm kind of speed freak so this why the project started out with 4 5hp chainsaw engines and now it is going to have a sports car engine :)

While your at it fill out your profile so we know where you are. Also post some info like age, mechanical skills, welding abilities, kart experience, etc

I see no where in this thread that you answered these basic questions that you were asked. The onky thing you did was fill out your locatiin. You were asked to list your abilities per these questions in this thread, and have failed to do so.

If you're spending 2 grand redoing the frame, then spend the 2 grand doing a proper frame from scratch!

You hack a frame you weaken it, period. You can brace and brace, but why not just start from the ground up and do it right!!!

I know how to service a car, how to rebuild an engine and how to turbo and modify a car but I have no welding experience as health and safety states that i am not allowed to use it it but i have seen my cousin and brother weld on their cars. I am not leaving it to chance so i am getting the very best welders in my area. I am using my advanced skills in physics to aid the designing of the go kart. Once the welder is done I am going to strip the rx8 myself and then put the engine and axle and do everything up. I have made a detailed plan on paper for my crew who are helping me build it and if everything goes to plan (precision is my middle name) then we should be done my the end of november. This go kart will be showcased at a young engineering competition. I am using an existing go kart chassis so it actually counts a go kart as I contacted the record company it needs at least a few pieces of a go kart which in this case the chassis and steering and front wheels will be the only standard thing on the go kart as the whole drive train will be from a car not a go kart. The general consensus is that if you hack something apart, you weaken it but look at limos as they are not built like that standard, they are cut in half and then extended and they become much stiffer than usual and my real concern is keeping the go kart as stiff as possible because I don't want any flex in the chassis as the smallest flex can turn into a big problem. Also I am going to be making it as aero dynamic as possible, i will be putting on a front splitter in front of the bumper. I will be taking all the precautions to making it as safe and as fast as possible.

Out of curiosity, what "records company" is this?

Expect that 2 grand safety budget to double if not triple.

I really would love to see these well laid out plans.

What I meant to say is that I have a very complex understanding of the internal combustion engine and I can perform modifications like installing mods up to the point where they need to be welded so what I meant was that I know how a turbo works and how to install it right up to the fabrication needed for the pipes.

Well I have a good understanding on how a space shuttle works, the Apollo landing module or the Mars Rover...

doesn't mean I can fly to the moon!

...just saying

+1 on seeing the plans...

PS from what I read.. I'm pretty convinced that you were born THIS century;
because of that, a word of caution:

What's the speed rating on those original gokart tires and rims?...
I wonder if your able to get a higher speed rated tire that will handle the weight let alone the high speed.

What's the total budget, all in gas included?

I've been thinking....maybe I'm being too harsh.
After all, he is willing to spend over $2000 to go 200 mph.
Surely that kind of investment would yield a kart that would protect him in the event of something going wrong.
And he's going to wear a full face helmet, just to be extra safe!
Personally, I'd like to see a 4wd kart with one of those chainsaw motors on each wheel.....

I think what this site needs is a eject button just for people that have nothing better to do than blow smoke up other peoples you know what and waste time feeding them full of it. The best thing to do is not give them what they want (attention) because that is what they are lacking in life.

I was thinking the same thing. We've been wrong before. There was that time that...............no, we were right. OK! Yeah the time the guy was gonna.........hmmmmm........no....we never heard back from him!!!!

Oh well, there's always a first time! I'll have to admit he makes it seem semi-plausible....Some points of his plan and thinking seem logical...(to a point).

Other parts are just goofy....clearly a product of following a failed concept too far....applying overthinking in the hopes that bystepping commonsense will be overcome with intellect.

But what the hey....let's give him a chance.....

Meanwhile.....all we've seen is big talk....
