naaa you just need to make a small arm with a pivot on the bottom mount it on the controll arm somewhere and the top of the arm has a small plastic pully that spins freely and in the middle have a spring goin down to the bottom of the control arm to pull down on the chain and just put the pully ontop of the chain.

just make a metal bracket with a small plastic pully on there wider then the chain that presses down on the chain its simple but effective mabey just have a arm and a spring to keep it down

The tensioner would have to push up from the bottom to be effective. But seriously, there has to be a way to adjust the chain, even the cheapest chinese machines have chain adjustments.

I agree with Kaptain Krunch it's doubtful they would make it with no way of adjusting chain tension. I still say you should take apart the rear axle assembly and look for the adjustment inside, the worst that could happen is you have to put it back together and you learn a little more about your buggy, but you may be able to fix it without having to cobble an idler on to it.

I agree, either the engine has to have some means to adjust forward or back, or its missing its factory instaled tension-er pulley, or that whole drive wheel assembly must somehow have the ability to adjust/slide forward or back on the swing arm to adjust the chain.

I cant be sure from the picture angles, but that swing arm seems to have an oval shaped adjustment slot with a bracket bolted to it, located just in front of the sprocket. I was thinking If this bolt was loosened, (and possibly all the other related bolts) it might allow the whole rear wheel assembly to simply slide forward or back to adjust the chain simalar to like a motorcycle does.

Thats what i thought to start with but it doesnt, it looks as if it should slide back n forth but its fixed, well looks like its welded from the other side, but made that way if you get what i mean, ive spoke to the guys again in my local bike shop and they have ordered me a roller tensioner or sumin, they think this will help, but everybody agrees its madness that it has no other means of tensioning the chain, it just doesnt make sense, also ive had loads of people looking for info on line about this buggy and no one has had any joy, know where it is made etc but nuthin in the way of help in any shape or orm, lol it seams i bought a buggy that no one knows much about lol just my luck

So what happens when you pull those bolts out of the rear of the axle housing? Don't forget to jack it up to take the weight off the axle.

got a roller tensioner today but its made of a hard plastic material, and can see anyway of fitting it really but think it would get eaten by the chain even if fitted it to be honest, But where i was moaning in the pub some gezzer heard me and he is coming to have a look tomorrow so fingers crossed irll let you know how we get on, he is a motor bike mechanic by trade but has been working on cars for the past few years so hopefully he may get it sorted

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRR the kiddy couldnt help he was a doughnut
been given a roller also that is ment to extend the chain when to lose i.e. if i put the extra link in so its too slack, but its plastic and i have no way to attach it anyway, when i undo them bolts that look like they slide back and forth, all it does is losen the caliper as that is all its attached to so total stuck again, but gonna give it a go in a sec was just letting you guys know the sitution at present

Just send it to me if I can't fix it I'll eat my hat or take it to a car mechanic and tell them I said any competent mechanic could fix it, that way if they can't they have to admit that they are incompetent.

lol ive had about 3 mec look at it and 2 bike mec and a bloody buggy mec, its a joke i swear, cant belive a chain could be so much grief, the buggy kiddy told me to drive it with just the one chain ? bloody mupet lmao

Well if you won't send it to me at least do me a favor, jack it up take off the tire and take lots of pics with at least one of them straight at the hub with the axle housing in the background. Was the hole that the caliper was bolted to slotted? If it is I think I know how to adjust it. loosen that caliper bolt and loosen those six (i can only see five but it looks there should be six) hex headed bolts at the back, then you should be able to rotate the hub (the part sticking out both sides of the housing looks greenish gold in the pics) in the housing (the part the six bolts are in) and I bet axle isn't centered in the the hub so when you rotate the hub it will move the axle forward and back.

okey dokey irll do that now, not sure if this is what you mean but it doesnt look centered (the whole back end i mean) the other side seams to be further forward, and i even took the chain off the other side and tryed fitting it to the prob side and had excatley the same grief its to short
