umm U said the chain is about 3mm to short right? put it on and then heat it up a little bit to see if it will expand a little then put the pin back in the chain then let it cool. its the only thing i can think of.

a chain thats too tight will cause unneeded wear on both sprockets and chain...

try gettin a iddler sproket and makin a small bracket that tensions the chain when u add another link.

if an iddler sproket is sumin that fits on a normal bike, i.e mountain bike or simelar that wont work mate, this chain is mega thick, the motor bike shop i got this chain from said it was very large, bigger than most 600cc bikes etc,

The idler would have to mount to the radius arm, you would want it pushing up on the bottom of the chain. A farm supply store might have one or a cycle shop. If it was mine though I'd be modifying the engine mount or the axle to make something adjustable and not deal with the idler.

its just a sproket with a bearing that moves freely just like a wheel with a bearing and u put it on a bracket to tension it all it is, is a free movin sprocket it fits ur chain and u just put it where it will push down on the chain to tighten it up.

You can even use a plastic idler pulley that is wide enough for a tensioner. That would be what i would do, i dont know how they can sell a kart with no chain adjustment...but ohh well. Sounds like its time for you to make a tensioner.

If there's no idler sprocket on the right side and it works then it stands to reason that there isn't supposed to be one on the left side. Just for kicks I'd take apart that axle assembly starting with those bolts facing the rear that look like they hold that cap on, if that axle housing is off center it may act as a cam and move forward and back as you twist it giving you adjustment.

you might want to jack it up first. lol

somebody said to me that it didnt look cemetrical, but it has independent sespension all round if that makes sense, so u guys think the best way 4ward is to fit a tensioner yea ?
and how wud i go about starting to do sumin like that ?

just make a metal bracket with a small plastic pully on there wider then the chain that presses down on the chain its simple but effective mabey just have a arm and a spring to keep it down
