I sent my block out to Summerlin Racing for machining a few weeks ago. I got it back today, only to find out Craig passed away earlier this year. Does anyone know of a good place I can send my block to get bored and honed?

I wouldnt know of anyone in your area. How much does it have to be bored out? And havent you already ran your built up briggs?

No, I haven't even assembled it yet. Summerlin wasn't really in my area, but I shipped it to them because I've heard they were the best. It only needs to go .010 over, so I'll probably just have it honed out.

Your going to hone it .010 over? So now you have 2 built up briggs? I remember reading up your long post about your first briggs I think that was the IC briggs. Is that the one still not assembled or is that the engine you mocked it up with?

No, I'm going to have a machine shop hone it. I don't have a torque plate to get it done properly. Which is why I'm trying to find a good place to send it. The mock up engine was a spare engine that I put my exhaust and carb on to check the fit. My actual engine is still in parts.

Finally started working on this again. Been sidetracked with a bunch of bike projects (and just burnt out TBH). Hacked up an old ATC rack and welded it in. Also welded up some **** spots on my swingarm from when I first started welding.

Just enough room for 2 shovels, a couple gallons of fuel, and some trail beverages :roflol:

Also, it turns out Craig Summerlin had some heart problems, and passed away a while ago. So I bought a torque plate and I'm honing it with the help of my friend's dad.

So just a quick bore hone a torque plate isnt needed with one of those drill hone's but when you need it oversized more you need a torque plate?

A torque plate is good to use any time you are messing with the bore. Otherwise you'll hone it straight with the block apart, but then it will warp and be off when you bolt on the head.

Doesn't a torque plate just keep the block together when you're altering something with the bore and prevent warp/flex?

How does it keep it straight?

With nothing bolted on the block, it is essentially "straight". But when you bolt on the head, it warps the bore slightly. The torque plate allows you to hone it with the bore in it's "warped" state, so it is basically perfectly straight with the head bolted down. Does that make any sense?

Nice kart man. Why do you need the shovels, digging up Apache bones or something?

ps: I vote you leave the shock towers as is then let us know if they hold.

I like that jump... i feel like trying it. Theres not much good soil around here most of our stuff is built form old wood suspended in trees, and frankly it scares the **** out of me.
