JT,
You were correct, my cart is a Bird Engineering Starbird.
After researching some, I found they were built in Nebraska by the company that built the Oscar Meyer Wienermobile. LOL
By the way, the bar you spotted on the back of mine is nothing but 2 PVC elbows and a length of pipe painted black LOL

Huh interesting I wonder if that bar was original. I have in fact talked to the old CEO of Bird from back in the day, Fred G. Schweser Jr. Nice guy, lots of cool info and resources on Bird karts, I just don't wanna bother him too much with questions. :roflol:

You should.... be like a journalist and compose a question list and submit it to him. Might be interesting to have a Bird FAQ list.

Hellion, did you just get out of jail again? JT is too cool for us since he grew up and started playing with airplanes!

Is he playing with real or model airplanes? Either way he is a traitor! I knew his obsession with Birds and Briggs wouldn't last. A fire that burns twice as bright lasts only half as long, or something like that...

I AM out of jail, it's so good to get away from that prison food.

Hello and. Hope all is well. This my first time posting and I apologize if I am in the wrong treat. I have a bird kart that I would like to part with. If anyone can be so kind as to guide me and maybe give a estimate price would be wonderful. Thank you kindly

Looks complete minus engine. Knock off $200.00 from what you think is fair. Since we do not know where in the world you are.

Here's my Starbird! Still need to paint it and restore the seat. It has a custom live axle that I made from scratch, just cut the ends off the solid axle and welded on bearing cups I machined! Rear tires are some old snowblower tires. Gonna get new front tires / rims soon.

Cool.

However, I am now a strong believer in the stub axle, dead axle, one-wheel-peel kart. Many are disdainful of them because feel they have been cheated (peer pressure in effect) out of the glorious live axle drive, but they are simpler, arguably faster (as long as you don’t lift the drive wheel on a turn) and snappier on acceleration. They basically have a poor man’s differential…😎

Carry on, do a FULL REFURB! Spring is here. What motor and battery/electronics are you using? Maybe start a refurb thread of your own so it gets full attention.

Those pleated seats are so “deluxe”, definitely the most posh part of a Starbird. They spared no expense there. 🙄 😉
Hopefully all it needs is new foam.

The seats just cracking on the surface and exposing the inside, it might be enough to just put some vinyl leather over it and keep the original padding. Im using a 36v MY1020 motor, 1000w. Not super powerful but it gets me going 20mph. I put a live axle in because I live in a place with lots of muddy hills, and it had no traction. Built the battery from 32140 cells, its in the ammo can
