Thanks, means a lot!

I am running a 351 Windsor, C4 settup, out back is factory IRS with 4.10's.
I want to back halve the car, and get rid of the IRS.

Here is an old shot of the engine and bay.

mine came factory with the 4.6L mod motor from ford. It did not come factory this way, nor did the C4.
It is strictly a race car for the most part......hence why i would love to get my heads done by a profesional....wink wink.

i was afraid you would say that......they are cast.

but thats okay, I want to toy with them a little, i had already boguht some 6 inch bits and a cartridge roll set to clean them up, and do a little intake to head matching.

I will keep you in mind when i buy a set of AFR 225's.

:cheers2::thumbsup: You're getting close, Blue!!! You'll KNOW you're there when you finish running one end of the bead and the slag is curling up off the bead at the other, and doesn't stop 'till it gets to the other end (WITHOUT using the hammer!!). It is so cool to watch.........:cheers2::popcorn:

I don't ever expect perfect welds from my 130A gasless MIG but, these welds surprised me

I just started to weld in December. I get to weld a little bit every few weeks so I don't have a ton of experience but I have been getting better.

These are my two best welds so far. I was putting an angle iron leg in the corner of a rectangular base also made out of angle.

Keep going mate, practice makes perfect.
Looks like you where going a bit quick in the first picture. Slow it down and /\/\/\/ instead of going ------. If that made any sense? :lolgoku:

Second picture looks good on the right of it anyway.

How does one get such a large gap between the overlap?

From the second pic, it looks like you could do with a bit more heat, it doesn't appear to have "bitten" the metal too well; the line between the weld & the base metal should be "blurred".

Having said that, as rusty said, you're doing ok for a beginner, keep practicing...

A little tip: To test the strength of a weld, break it (by whatever means necessary), the metal should break beyond the weld

I just make litttle U's back and forth. The left side of the second picture I think I was just trying to fill a gap or something...;)

Im not sure how to adjust the heat on the welder. Its not mine so I just turn it on, set the gas and start welding.

I don't do a whole lot of welding anymore, but I did this a few weeks ago. SMAW, 6011 rod, 1/8" angle iron.
