I hope you were doing that out side . The gas coming off the weld process is VERY UNHEALTHY . You need sand/grind the Galv'ie off before welding . The wire has to burn through the Glav'ie before it will start weld process . Don't use Brake clean ether , there is whole write up on how bad B/Clean's burn off gasing . Believe it or not Alcohol or windex is best . When a Mig/with gas bottle is set right it produces very strong/nice welds . There is no other way to get good at welding but for practice practice practice .

Here is an expansion chamber I just made a couple weeks back.

This is the inside of the pipe. I purged the inside with Argon as I welded it.

you really know what you are doing it looks like there are some really good welds on here but when you show them you need to post what you uses especially when it comes to stick because not all rods are created equally and some welds that are great do not look like another rods good weld

Edit: all of the different positions and if you are using MIG or flux tell about wire feed and etc that helps judge and IMO MIG is way easer to get a good looking weld than stick just saying and my welds are nothing compared to some of these on this thread

Dude, you need to learn to use periods!

Aside from that, his first post is obviously MIG welding and in his second post, you can see the welder in the background.

Yes the first post was all mig welding, the second post was not the welder you see in the background as that is my mig welder, it was all tig welded.

Here is a pic of them side by side.

Here is a few I have pictures of. First one is 3/16 mild done with 7018 at 92 amps 3/32 rod.

2nd one is mig 3/16 mild steel with a 251 miller

third is 5/16 mild steel with 7018 at 105 amps 3/32 rod.

Forth is tig aluminum 2 hrs into doing it for the first time. Didn't clean it enough but it was a good first attempt at welding corners.

First attempt at aluminized exhaust with tig mild steel rod.

very nice sir......I myself am building a race car, and have myself, welded the entire unibody, 8 point roll bar, through the floor subframe connectors, etc...

I wish my welds looked that good, but I'm only using a mig.

I wish i would have bought a tig instead, and did everything out of chromeoly.

its funny how it all looks like crap when ur under construction and u think.... "man its never gonna look good" and then ur done and u see the final product and ur like " wow it turned out good!" i wanted a tig for one reason back in the day..... i wanted to build my own aluminum sheet metal intake for my vw cause they were so dang expensive. i did it and man if i had pitures of it today i would post them up to show how bad it was. funny cause back then i thought i was laying dime lmao! tigs are alot nicer in terms of welding sheet, u can getthe beads alsmost flat so theres not alot of grinding do do to smooth it all out. car def looks good sir, is that a 3rd gen camaro?
