One of my best with an arc welder, 2.5mm rod and 130 or so amps.
Shame the start and finish arent that good.

Three of my school projects. The first two were done with tig. Open corner vertical and a vertical lap joint. Last image is of open corners done with flux core. Top and bottom flat position, middle horizontal position.

http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/showthread.php?t=6821&highlight=welds&page=7

maybe i will take some pics of welds done with my new Hobart MIG welder! (finally got a gas bottle (expensive!)). maybe try out some aluminum too, and try some multi-pass on 1/2" (this thing is powerful!). really i just want to try out as many welding methods as possible.

Your moving too fast and jumping around too much. BTW, careful with the fumes from that galvanized pipe.

I just tried it out, just to get used to the sparking and what so ever. Didn't try a real bead or anything.
I stopped after the splatter started getting inside my helmet. I had a soldering iron flash back after a bubble of solder popped and hit my face and hand. Luckily the ones that hit my face weren't hot.

I was welding outdoors and the wind blew the fumes towards my rightside. Fumes shouldn't be my problem, since I take extra precaution on it anyways(Melting plastic and soldering). Anything that melts above body temp, need to have protection against. :D

2 problems with this weld; both parts are galvanized (hot dipped in molten zinc) and the elbow isn't steel, it's cast iron. Steel and cast iron can be welded together, just not with the equipment you've got at the moment. Get some more appropriate matl. and you'll enjoy some much better results.:cheers2:
