simple + durable! what would you recomend?

Locking collar and keyway. Welding onto an axle is good for a while, but if that sprocket holder ever gets bent or wears off, grinding off the welds wont be fun, and your axle will never be perfect.

thanks dudes!

i havent driven it up to full speed yet, for a reasonable cause... i have no working breakes yet :D but i know for sure it will go 65 km/h +, maybe 70, (i have done the maths!...) still it´s a four stroke 150 cc motorcycle engine, cant expect to much, but i felt that the acceleration is good because of the manual sequential gearbox :cheers2:

i realized that i could switch tires from my homemade minibike with the front tires on the kart, now I´ll get more traction up front, and the kart just looks better, and the brakes are working really good now also!

i will expand my race track and maybe ad some jumps to it!
and i think i´ll put a video up within a week! :thumbsup:

Absolutely love this project. You just have to appreciate the work put into something like this, to build something awesome out of totally nothing. Great work you've got so far here Redneck!

i just build as i go, i started with building the square tube base, then i built one side off the kart, and then i "copied" that side/measurements and built the other side. when every tube was tack-welded in place i took diagonal measurements to make sure everything is straight! diagonal measurements is very helpful when building a rollcage!

...hope that answers your question!

Painted and nearly finished!

* added taillight
* wooden florboard
* Fixed the speed measuring system... (last pics in this post)

some electronics and wiring left to do

then I´ll have think of another projekt after the kart is finished... i was thinking small, 50cc, powerfull, gokart tires... like a barstool racer or something ... or those kind of thingis that you see on yotube when you type in "bierkiste mit motor" . Those are awesome :thumbsup:

That thing looks so cool! I love some of the smaller touches... like the starter motor for reverse (how well does that work, by the way?) and the rollerblade wheel for the speedometer drive... nice! And is that a LED tube for a brake light? Awesome kart man...
