I wonder if going through the other end of the band is gonna wear out the cable?
Maybe get a piece of that black cable conduit for it.

And now THIS is why it is important to place the pivot correctly and why you need a perpendicular post to pivot on.

A) doesn't wrap right.

A) I bet it works.
Edit
Yeah when they want to twist like that they sometimes slip clean off the drum!
I have seen pics of some bands that have little tabs on the sides to keep from slipping off the drum.

Bands like to twist and still provide even pressure right? Lol

Brake band will rub brake drum for sure. This is all I know. Lol

I think you just gotta test it.
This technology is so Archaic.
No wait... that should make it simpler to GAB.

I can add washers for tabs to my groupie. I kinda was thinking that may be an issue.

That sounds like a good idea, I actually welded a tab to the Band. (not recommended) but I did.

Maybe a band brake isn't great to begin with? And maybe this is like half of that? LOL

Any kinda stopping is an improvement.

45 mph to zero in .... ?????

100'?
75'?
50'?
25'?

The washers I have on top kinda of help and hurt.

They take up the play might help with my post being crooked.
^I even tried to word if it differently.LOL

BUT they help keep the band from wobbling off the drum.

Maybe I will test with the washers only on the bottom support- after I see how it works this way.

Bob once you use that brake hard a few times it will pull the top where the pin is in closer to the drum. Also as Chancer said weld 2 tabs on the band to help guide the band on the drum, even my Manco's had them. Shape it like this l_____l and drill 2 holes in it for spot welds.

I doubt anyone reading along is confused by what chancer and Denny are saying but here is a pic. This example has the band on the clutch, but the band tabs are there.

Lastly, I am considering a band return spring. This may not be an issue, but at least as it sits unused, a spring to hold the band open wide may prevent rubbing when not used. A few tests may prove this un-needed.
