That's almost like lipstick on a pig.
Chrome on a rat rod!
They are popular with the rat rod set as well as motorcyclists...

I'm surprised these things don't have a following here. They look like a lot of fun.
Sorry you had such rotten luck on yours Bwdeaton. They require a certain finesse, but Mr. Safety® is proud of you.
Skip to about 3:15 to see some running, surprisingly with the ambient sounds intact despite the overly loud and obnoxious hip hop "music".
P.S., I retract any idea I propagated that suggested these are popular with anyone but hipster douchebags.

I saw a vid, some one had a twin engine scooter going 60+.
I'd be wanting some body armor.

Hey Bwdeaton
How did you put a tube in the rear tire? There's a recess for the air nipple but after the sprocket and drum brake are installed you'll never get to air up the tire with out removal.
It's symmetrical. The brake assembly coveres one side completely. The sprocket side has some room, but I don't know how it would ever work. There's no room for an air chuck to get in there.
The tube would need and elephant's trunk to clear everything.
Pics 3 and 4 in my first post show good rear wheel angle.
