Well.. yes!
indeed on the upper end of cool ;)

And while you likely cannot cast as thinwalled as you can vacu-form or 3Dprint;
not without a severe risk of defects..I doubt the weight will be too noteworthy..
and the look of a cast aluminium engine (fake) will certainly be reason enough to add the maybe two lbs of dead weight.

PS 3d printers are cheap these days a decent one is less than 200 bucks nowadays,
and you can make nice intricate parts for lost castings.. IMHO you are the perfect candidate to get one and make the best use of it.. especially if you can cast at home..
Shoot.. now I want a furnace..

Got the right side head done, definetly has the look of homemade which I kinda like. They were only one sided pours (easier). I didn’t have the pressure without having a two part mold (no risors/gates) to give more downward pressure, but that’s ok.
Looks odd where the exhaust would normally exit, may need to have a dead ended 90* pipe there(gotta think about it)
Pics,
Still have to finish the amp/volt meter- I figure I’ll get these fake engine pieces on first. This is the stock engine I’m using for a pattern.
With all the parts it’ll be under 10lbs so not concerned.
Anyway thanks for looking,
Oh the blue/orange you see is clay(to make the fins more shallow) orange is petrobond casting sand just stuck to the clay, in case anyone’s wondering.
Think I may cast the other side so it’ll have a real spark plug cast in it, well drill/tap a hole for one.

A little update: (decided against me doing the casted parts (the weight was adding up and wasn’t the look I was aiming for. So I’ve been cutting/painting/carving/bending/drilling actual engine pieces(hollow) a lot less weight. Bent up a fake header w/a casted heat shield. Keep in mind the engine parts were junk from stripped bolts to broken fins and more.... so I butchered it up and finally ready to bolt em’ on. So yes the project is still moving forward just lots of detail I’m trying to get right. Thanks for looking

Just a lil' update, still healthy here hope u all are as well. Lifes been different to say the least, anyway i've just been working on little aesthetic pieces.
Fake plug boot and wire/ its just rubber no wire involved. The straw in pic was my mold for the wire, the honda spark plug mold i made a while ago then just used the same urethane rubber to sorta glue em' together. So visually it resembles the stock look.
The tank fin molds are done, and poured a couple orange scoops. Im happy w/them but those molds were a pain in the u know what......

yup its a slow project but its gradually coming together, thanks for looking.

great so far..
although I really hoped you made a two part mold (and a thinner walled retro cast)
just because I loved the idea of a made fake engine
I must agree however that the hollowed out real engine surely looksmore real (well obviously)

I don't get the spark plug boot and wire tbh.. boots are cheap and black PU tube is even cheaper in short length...
but that way you at least have some home cast parts ;)

Anyways, the 'engine' looks great back in it's place..

That now makes me wonder how far one could push that idea...
like hiding the motor in the crankcase, ..
the controller in the cylinder,..
the batteries in the tank etc...
basically a full stealth conversion.

And no.. just me wondering.. not a suggestion ;)
I really like yours

My apologies it's been a while. Life has gotten busy, healthy but busy. I took the bike for a 11pm cruise around the lake (roads) by our house its about 5miles. This was back in october and everything went very good i didn't pass a single car- The road test was just to be sure nothing caught on fire😋. Also need to do some finishing touches on her- and i'm contemplating picking up a second extra batt pack in the future (same size) it'll fit in a back pack easily for that just in case time i may need it. The 5mile cruise didn't seem to use up much battery at all actually-even had headlight/tailights working. Next time i'll take a video.
When i do get it completed (cosmetically) i'll be sure to be back on here in the spring to load "finished" pics.
Anyway hope you all are doing well,

shep
