5 hp mods

Are most of the mods for 5 hp motors only good for briggs. Or would they work with other motors like honda and craftsmen?

Well most honda's these day's are OHV. Which is another story from briggs flat head's. There's lot's of mods for both Brigg's and Honda's. But IIRC most craftsmen's are Tecumseh's and there's not too many mod's for those.

There not very expensive at all if you look around. You never know where you could find one. I'd look around at pawn shop's and garage sale's. Best place IMO.

I would rather spend the little extra and buy a clone, put a rod and flywheel on it and go play with my $250 race engine.

$250? Get a written off CT-110 postie bike. You get 7.5hp, centrifugal clutch, and 4 speed manual.

You'd likely have change from the $250

All of our postal work is done with modded/imported, right hand drive Jeep Cherokees (rural areas where your average 3 bedroom shack is bigger than the post office) or little custom USPS owned panel vans (for more populated areas, mostly S-10 parts). No motorcycles.

You buy them at harbor freight/tool sales/tractor supply/just about anywhere utility engines are sold. Should run around $100, HF usually has a sale/coupon running for $100.

then add a $100 billet flywheel(SAFETY FIRST!!!)

remove the governor

and a $40 header(only if the noise is acceptable where you live)

Russ the link you gave for that clone I have noticed some change's. Appears the filler neck on the fuel tank is a bit different. And it appears the fuel inlet is like 1/2 way from the top? Doesnt make sence?

And just adding a header and some jetting in a 6.5 clone will REALY make a difference!! Sounds awsome and realy pulls all the way through.

Yeah, cap used to be flush with top of tank. Perhaps an aid for less spillage???
Fuel pickup is still at bottom of tank. Maybe less chance of picking up sludge??? Curious.
