just got some more steel(tube and sheet) started to weld the side bars of my cage and attach floor pan. I have already gone through 5 drill bits drilling holes for rivets, its so ****ing annoying, I've got the drill going on a low speed small amount of pressure but as soon as it gets through one side of the tube it smashes into the other and snaps.
I was having that issue when I was building an oven a few months ago. I take it you are using a small bit? Even if you think you are not pushing much pressure, it may be too much if it is slamming that violently when it makes it through. Also, I used a lot of PB Blaster as lubricant...
Edit: sorry I didn't read everything else first. I forgot I had that issue with my crappy northern bits at first too lol. I absolutely had to push them too hard just to get them to bite.
