A roll cage would be a good idea. Just dont forget that you'll need a seat belt.

Ive thought about making a trailer with an extra seat for my kart. Not sure how safe it would be.

here's some pics of my kart i drew up an idea on paint what do you guys think good/bad?

@Cam here's a closer at the back end, can bolt to the green and weld to the yellow

I'm not to sure about the seat on a trailer, doesn't sound to safe for the way i drive.

10 or 12mm threaded holes there?

They look strong enough if you were to create a proper mount out of 4 or 6 mil plate

I don't mean go too fast with the seat plan.. but anyways, heres some sketch ups i did tonight -

1 inch pipe with a wall thickness of 3mm is incredibly strong, an added base support and plenty of space to mount your bolts, all you need to add to this is a plate on the top (which i could not draw in sketchup) with a large hole for the tow ball and your set.

I'm going to get some more steel today (tubing and sheet) so that i can start making my roll cage and put a floor pan in, I'm getting all my steel for free :wai: thanks to my grandad, he has shed loads of it and he lets me have as much as i want.

Whats the best way to get surface rust of of sheet metal?
i think my handheld belt sander will do a good job.

Sew up a 5 pointer with old car seat belts, use designs from 5 point harnesses and then copy with car seat belts, we have done one for a go cart once, wreckers will probably let ya have some, just make sure they are sewed tightly with zigzag/crossover pattern.
