670?
Cheap?
Nope.
The best option is to get a job or start a business.
There is NO WAY a V twin will be cheap.
Small block single cylinders can be cheap, but never a v twin.

Well, there are also a lot of vertical shaft Vanguards for lawn mowers too. Even then, it's twice as much as a brand new Predator 212, and it probably needed work.
Also, ya only found it once.
And also, quite frankly, you probably couldn't have afforded it, or even now. Don't mean to be a jerk.
Just stick with single cylinder small blocks for the time being.

The vertical shaft would be the biggest problem.

There are right angle gear boxes available from Tractor Supply, but they're still expensive and would require major fabrication to fit it on a yard kart.
Carsandcameras used one on the Rat Rod Wagon, and they also had to make a coupling.
Another thing to keep in mind, is that most v twins on the market(aside from motorcycles), are designed for lawn mowers, and are thus governed pretty low. Carsandcameras had to bypass the governor on the 670cc Black Widow in order to get any respectable speed.
And then you have to remember that the sheer weight of a v-twin(more than 100 lbs!!!), will probably screw your handling, since there would be almost no weight over the front wheels.
And then the sketchy wheelies.
When I build a 670 kart(hopefully), I may or may not worry about this stuff.
Carsandcameras just slapped one on, probably the route most people take.

Just thought I'd also let y'all know, I'm turning 13 in April.
I originally asked my dad for a certain Lincoln Electric welder and safety equipment for my birthday, but he talked to some other people on whether it was a good idea to give a welder to a kid like me, and now that idea's history. :D
Which is too bad.
But at least instead, my dad's taking me to the Pate Swap Meet this year to get go kart stuff and meet John and Ike from Carsandcameras!
So, I'm happy!
Plus, I'm pretty sure my dad is gonna switch cars with my grandparents and use their Suburban and trailer, so that way I can take my project to the swapmeet!
Trevor - We will keep hounding you until you post the pic with the sign on the kart or near it.

cool im 13 too

I can't remember what car you have exactly...the black YerfDog with no cage?? If that's you then do NOT get seat belts. Seat belts with no cage is a very bad idea!

I dont go 50 around the neighborhood because potholes and the suspension wont allow it to flip the cog is too low because the saggy suspension
If i go too fast around a corner it will lift a wheel a tiny bit but it will not flip

Torque monster?
Retard timing, port/polish, index sparkplug, cam, valve springs, flow upgrades, etc.
Only do the cam and springs if you put in billet parts and remove governor.

But I don't know of billet parts for 8 horse flatties.

I don't think it's that hard to retard timing, so you might wanna do that, but yeah. So you're talking basically, stage 1?

Well my plans are to freshen the engine some with paint and repairs and making it run smoothly and an intake air filter and exhaust governor bypass/removal throttle setup some other things too
