So this just happened. Got a 3/4 crank for my super duper 420cc !

Now where did that pesky manual clutch run off too..............

So we're officially on the 3d engineering bandwagon. And the quality is absolutely great. Can't wait to test it at 30+hp and even more tq. It's gonna be interesting for sure.............

Starting the mock up phases.....

Well after some serious mods and fabwork im officially the first 420cc with a direct mount 3d manual clutch !!! All I gotta do is cut the keyway and balance the assembly and I can put the engine back together again.................... Feeling motivated now !!!!

Why didn't you have the machine shop that turned down the crank cut the keyway?

Or at least have it done before assembly. Do you have a good way to cut a 3/16 keyway?

I wanted to wait on the clutch. And see how far the keyway was. I'm glad I did cause it's 3/16 instead of 1/4 like I was gonna have them cut before.

And the original machine shop wouldn't cut the key way. But yes I got another one that's gonna do it for me. They said no problem and $20 for keyway cut. Gotta figure out how to get in there tho. Their hours are weird and I'm at work when they are open.

And assembled with everything to wish it was running and had a chassis. Lol

But yeah a photo op was in order. As this is the first big block with a 3d manual on it........and don't worry about those other pics. It was some random stuff that came in also. :wai: :kewlsmiley:

So this is NOT going in the Mini Me Chassis?

I sold the bare roller a few weeks ago. BUT I just talked with somebody and the new one is in the process of manufacturing. It's the same company tho. But longer and better design.

Full blown diy it is. I'm going for the gold for the first time in the build off after 3 years straight. It's laid out and the new rear wheel and tire came in also.............much bigger than before !!!! And no that's NOT a mini tape measure either !

Minor update the keyway is cut finally. And now it's all getting shipped off to nr racing for balancing of the rotating assembly. Decided I didn't want the locals to do it cause they have never balanced that style before so let's let somebody that knows what they are doing and do it right and pay a little extra.

Well my issue I been wondering about has been resolved. I didn't want to cut 2 identical triple tree pieces by hand without a cnc . After some hard searching i found some. Ordered some. And received some today............ All the rest is a piece of cake ! And I just bought a new Jeep Cherokee so it's slow going but will still be done before winter ! I want to make a few passes before the track closes down for the season hopefully.

Done before winter. According to "Ye Old Farmers Almanac" Dec 21 2016 is the first day of Winter.
That gives you 10 days till the Build off ends! Tick Tock Tick Tock
However That may not matter... Life as we know it could very well end Nov 9. OMG!

Finally ! After a few different front tire sizes later I got something that will look good. So all I need is a front wheel and the rear axle stuff and I can finish the build with some welding and a few bends.

So I'm still searching for some chassis guy to finish my main frame area. But I did manage to finish the triple trees and neck with bearings installed.

At this point with only 2 months left its not gonna be finished. I still don't have anybody that can bend my tubing and finish welding it up. I also need a front wheel, cylinder head, gas tank, brakes, throttle cable, and clutch cable to finish.

If I didn't buy a brand new car and have a $800 ttl to pay for i could make it. So I'm gonna call the first chassis my final product and this year's entry. I will not build something next year. 3 years in a row is more than enough for me.
