Good News. My mail man attempted to Deliver the Copper Today. It would not fit in the mailbox, but it is at my Post office and I can pick it up tomorrow.
Bad news is this happens all the time, Lazy Postman will not bring pkgs to the house. (Long Driveway) Its a 50/50 shot. They do not even put a notice in the box, they just take it back to the post office!

LOL.. Yeah...what I do...sometimes I go for weeks without touching a hammer! !! I'm not a nail beater..I'm a wood craftsman with glue, clamps, nailguns, and screws.

A little update.
Here is how I got the copper on a 10 foot roll. I cut it to length 20". Hammer it. That makes it curl some. then I put it in my Brake (or is it Break) I bend a 1/4" hem on each end. this flattens it out, makes it rigid and provides a sleeve on the backside. I slip a piece of 24G sheet metal in the sleeve to further strengthen it.
Now I just gotta do this 5 more times.

I actually have one I tried that and did not like the results. :(
It did not really achieve a hammered look, just a finely wrinkled texture.
That was my plan. originally. I even welded a ball peen hammer head to the round end chisel.

Other thing is, I only have so much copper, I can't waste a piece experimenting now.
This stuff is like unobtanium apparently.

It was a sock hop.

:smiley_omg: I'm so jealous!!!! (Do you have any pictures of your daughter or just your date)?:lolgoku:

No....I cherish the memories of times past with my daughter....they are way better than gokarts or ANYTHING materialistic....but...I see you're putting in the time....and you'll never, ever, ever, say....I wished I'd spent less time with my kid.

They grow up too fast....we grow old too fast...Your daughter is beautiful....your face ,however, could use a GoPowersports sticker!

Carry on!!!!

Where's the Bier????

What are you doing reading this thread, eeeehhh???

Bier!!! And I love David Hasselhoff
LOOOOOL
:smiley_omg: Wrong thread Pal! WOW Wrong Forum!!!

Not at all Eric, but I wonder why ANY non native german could actually get that joke..
(in fact nowadays many native germans [almost everyone younger than 25] don't get it)

David Hasselhoff basically BUILT this Bierkiste! (fact *cough*)
I'll try to explain (but it's not going to work out I'm afraid)

carefull: history lesson ahead....

1989...
Knight Rider still in the heads of most germans;
Germany was about to reunite (big deal in germany as you will certainly understand)
refugees of the former DDR piling up in western germany's embassies, german Chancellor (Kohl) meeting
the president of the sovjet union (Gorbachev) negotiating terms for a reunion... yadda yadda (months of politic debates, negotiations, dicussions and so on) leading to the Fall of the berlin wall Nov 1989.
(open borders)

new years eve 1989....
Appearance of David Hasselhoff.. performing "Looking for freedom" at the berlin wall.
Half a million people basically celebrating the first turn of the year with their relatives from eastern germany since WWII

1990 germany was officially reunited...

Skipping forward a bit, David Hasselhoff well beyond "celebrative drinking" behaviours giving an interview (slightly tipsy)
claiming that he CAUSED reunification by performing his song at the berlin wall... and that all germans love him ...

Yes.. John F Kennedy stated that he is "ein Berliner",
Ronald Reagan asked Mr.Gorbatchev to "tear down this wall"...
and David drinking Hasselhoff was looking for freedom, and he finally succeeded... *cough* fact!

Soo.. as a german that was extremely funny, and got to be an ongoing joke for years.. David Hasselhoff was even nominated (everyone can nominate basically everybody else) for an order of merit (for reuniting germany of course) things like that.
(Gorbachev got one in fact for this very reason)

So yeah... funny joke for a german old enough to remember;
not too funny story to tell ...

history lesson over you may proceed from here

But knowing David Hasselhoff had an alcohol addiction,
beer contains (or at least should contain imho) alcohol;
and that all germans looove David Hasselhoff
it's a hilarious comment, that fit's this topic on many levels :D

:cheers2:

Thanks Alex. Believe it or not I have heard that story about "The Hoff" but forgot. It is a good History Lesson, We should never forget those times WWII and 1989/90. I guess it is definitely more memorable times in Germany but the whole World should take note.

But how Did Hasslehoff Build this Bierkiste?

So I got all the Copper hammered, Cut and Riveted to the Krate Frame.
Dropped in an old clone for mock up and dropped an old steering wheel in place.
This thing is looking Pretty Cool. Lots more work to do, It just looks almost finished.
In the fourth Pic you can see with the clutch mounted inboard the the sprockets will line up and the entire engine, driveline and Axle sprocket are able to fit and operate hidden within the Krate.
