2016 - Beer Crate Racer (winner)

I took the Krate frame and pre-drilled all the holes where the Copper Slats will rivet on. I want this drilled and painted before I rivet it because the Rivets are Copper to match the slats.

Also since the rivets are a decorative function I wanted all the holes to line up evenly throughout. So I made this template and placed it over all 8 sides. (2 sides of 4 corners) then drilled, now everything will line up nicely.
Still searching for more copper. Too expensive to buy. But with the hammered finish and copper being solid can be polished inevitabely. I can use any scrap piece. Here along the coast copper Flashing and rain gutters are common. I just gotta find the Rain gutter companies recycle bin and get permission. Theft of recyclable metals is a big problem here (drug addict losers) so I have to be very upfront. MY wife volunteered to go tomorrow, Women have a way of looking less suspicious, and Men are more than willing to be extra helpful.

Krate Progress:
I got the mounts welded on and drilled the frame for the Krate to bolt on.
I also broke down and Bought Copper. Got a good deal on Ebay. 18bucks. For 3" x 120" strip. on sale. Free Ship. should be here Thurs.
And of course FLEX SEAL. I painted the legs to the Krate with my generic Rustoleum Flex seal. I just like the finish matte Black.

I know. I always wondered why the build off is like 9 months. This stuff is really not that hard.

I'm glad it is, so far I've managed to make 4 45 degree cuts, and sit in my lawn chair drinking beer.

I got one side of the copper Riveted to the krate. Still waiting on Shipping for the copper for the long sides. But Its lookin cool.
I cleaned the copper then sprayed it with clear. There are some differences in color and imperfections but Copper is a natural material so I still think it is ok.

Wish I had my Camera. (I use my wifes smart phone for all my pics and she went to bed.)
Anyway I just put the copper on the front of the Krate and set it on the Kart. It looks really good. I am gonna put a copper tube on the steering column, and Black uprights, This thing is gonna shine like a diamond in a goats azs!
Bummer for you guys cause but there is always Friday!

Messed around today with the seat upholstery.
Found some fake leather in a Brown Gator print.
Cut out the wood got some foam and put it together.
I also got some copper upholstery tacks. Just for detail.

Still waiting on the Copper for the sides. I ordered it Tuesday out of San Leandro Ca, Ships USPS. This is a 2 day ship.
The sellers Add used Ebays "Fast n Free" shipping logo too.
Ebay claimed I should have it as soon as Thurday.
Ebay sent me a USPS Tracking number and on Thurs. 48 hours after ordering it had not shipped Yet!! WTH?
I sent the guy a message on Thurs, he replied Friday night and promised to get the box out Saturday!!!
What a Douche Bag. 5 days to process a 2 day ship. With false advertising. As long as he gets ebay a tracking number they are happy, whether it leaves the supplier or not.
and since I bought this through my wifes ebay business account she has asked that I not leave him a bad review.

I just gotta Figure out the Wheels. I think they are Aluminum but are Currently Painted Red

That is funny. When I went to the "Fabric" store to buy the Material, I made my Wife come with me. No way was I going in there alone. (You would not catch me dead in a "Michaels" either) I was right too, there was a couple of guys in there that were obviously "together" .
Anyway we looked at some different fake animal designs and we made that joke, That they were "Pimpin". I wanted a rough cut Suede. They had nothing like that, but the colors on the Alligator ended up a good color match between the Black and Copper metal work.

I just ordered My Sprocket, from GoPowerSports.com It is a 60 tooth split sprocket. I will be using a 12 tooth Cent. clutch. Giving me a 5:1 Gear ratio.
Also ordered a mechanical Brake caliper and Mounting bracket. Hopefully it matches up with my Disc.
