    Help identify (Manco 403/405)

Sure hope the original OP comes back and doesn't turn into one of those that for some reason ran away after 3 or 4 of us tried to help him out.

Clutch or CVT issue. High rpm to start moving.

As I described in post #3, heavier weights will cause it to engage at a lower rpm. I suppose you could also say it would be smoother. People ( myself included ) modify the clutches to engage at a higher rpm to get stronger acceleration. Take the kart and open it up all the way. You might just be...

Clutch or CVT issue. High rpm to start moving.

The driver part of of the CVT actually is a clutch. As it spins centrifugal force moves the weights which cause the clutch to start to engage. Heavier weights move sooner than light ones. What you describe as " when it engages it hits pretty hard " is how one that's been modified reacts. Drive a...

Predator 212 Engine won't run after govenor removal and upgraded carb

You might have the exhaust valve set incorrectly. As mentioned by Sparky in post #2. Pull the spark plug and the rocker cover. This will allow you to turn the engine over easily and watch the valves open and close. After a few revolutions you will see that after the exhaust valve closes, there...

    Ghost or Predator with hop-up?

Michigan weather. Today, in Oceanside Calif. the beach city where I live ( but I do live close to the eastern edge) 6 miles from the ocean it hit 90 degrees for about a half hour. Was 88 for at least 4 hours. Doesn't have much to do with extra running engines. Just thought I'd throw that in...

    Formula 1 2026 Season

NHRA also started its season today. Couldn't watch it live ( I was at church ). Will watch the replay Tuesday afternoon.

Clutch or CVT issue. High rpm to start moving.

I have no idea what a " 6150 ASM " is. Do you really expect people to know from that description? What I do know is that heavier weights in Driver will lower the engagement rpm. Weaker springs will also have the same effect. Together they can change engagement rpm substantially. Previous owner...

What does GC stand for? Is that Gage Corporation?

    Help identify (Manco 403/405)

Hellion has got you drowning in suppliers. Who could ask for anything more. On his list is Go Power Sports. Another is OMB Warehouse. Both are big go kart supply shops that carry everything needed to rebuild ( or build from scratch ) on a kart. But it's not like trying to buy a starter for a...

How do I place my suspension for a rear swing arm setup?

I have several karts with swing arm rear suspension. With all of them the shocks are straight up and down. I don't know if that's correct. But the engineers that drew up the plans ( all are different makes ) thought it was. None are home built.

    Identifying a Go Kart

That's a pretty darn big hole. Guess that's why they make torque wrenches. Keep your eyes peeled for the 420 to go on sale. FWIW. I've been building these predator engines for 6 years. 212, 224, & 301. All hopped up quite a bit. I just finished my first 420. It is built also. Rod, cam, valve...

Yerf dog 30032 brake new update

When I bought my Yerf-Dog one of the first things I replaced was the brake band. I save all my receipts. Went and checked last night after seeing his picture. It was a 4" band. I think he has the correct one on there. Drive it and break it in a little.

    Howdy from North Texas!

I've read that they don't hold up real well. Never owned one. ?

    Ghost or Predator with hop-up?

I just love post #42 & 43. I have 4 karts and a mini bike, all with modified engines on them. But aside from that, I have 3 more complete built running engines sitting in my garage. I have as much fun building them as anything. WTR. I dig your Sportster. Apart from moto cross bikes, I haven't...

Reattaching Frame Together With Square Tubing, Is 1.5 11ga good?

A piece of 1/4" aluminum is not going to cut it for an engine plate. Most big block engine plates made for a 390, 420, or 440 are 1/4" steel. They all weigh around 80 lbs. I bet your V-twin is much heavier. If you're putting the aluminum on top of an existing steel plate, well maybe. Don't skimp...

Yerf dog 30032 brake new update

Looks like you don't need the text I was going to add. Looks to be set up correctly. I think I would try to grind down that certain part of the brake lining. Is it OK the rest of the way around the drum? Also, I can't find your picture that shows the spring at mid kart. Don't remember if the...

Yerf dog 30032 brake new update

I can't remember about the spacers ( been a while since I messed.with it ) but I am thinking probably not. As far as return spring, mine has the one at mid kart like in picture #3 and another on the pedal. No spring at the band itself.

    Kilowat Jackshaft

The picture you showed should work. Always better to have it a little long. The picture you posted, the shaft is actually too short, and the locking part of the lock nut is not engaging. These things like to fly off if the lock nut isn't working, or worse yet, a common nut is used.

Yerf dog 30032 brake new update

I have that exact same kart. I can't get to it until the weekend to take a picture of the brake. If you haven't got it figured out by then, I will try to post some pictures. The band sits with the opening facing forward. A bolt goes through the bottom and into the plate to hold it stationary...
