    please suggest cheap welder

I bought a refurbished hobart 140. I got it for 300. The thing runs like a champ, I have done several large welding jobs with it and have never had issues. It came with gas hookups but I have never used them. I would 10/10 recommend it unless you have the money for a nice 220 volt.

    Predator 212cc cams..

I haven't personally removed a governor from a 212, but I have done a lot of reading and research on it. From what I have seen it doesn't really effect engine wear a whole lot, as long as you aren't sitting there "red lining" it and letting the valves float. It can be done with out the valve...

    Help Gx200 6.5 set up

By just eye balling it, I would say a 60” cable should do you justice. Make sure you measure though, you don’t want it to be too tight because it’s short, but at the same time a longer cable will have additional drag in the cable sleeve and will get in the way of other kart components.

    Help Gx200 6.5 set up

Posting a pic of your kart might help us determine how much throttle cable you need. if your engine is rear mounted, you could probably just measure from the brake pedal to the back of the kart then add a foot and that should be plenty.

    gokart help

:iagree: Unless you know your way around a welder I wouldn't bother even trying. Like sid said it will be of a pain to try and convert a racing kart instead of just either starting from scratch or finding a better donor kart

Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck!

Denny, The only ratchets I have ever seen from them have plastic parts. There is no way these would hold up to even weekly use. After some looking I realised they carry a nice line that is all metal, I have not had any experience with these. Thanks though, I learned something new!

    Gsxr 750 in a helix 150 frame!

Interesting, I about about to embark on a similar project. Just haven't found a good donor bike yet.

Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck!

As a general rule I don't buy anything that I will use a lot there. I have worked at a car shop for almost 3 years now, I grew up between my dad's shop, my grandpa's shop, and the farm shop. I have had my fair share of experience with HF tools and stuff. Here is a comprehensive list of HF stuff...

    IS this worth $600?

I would say 600 is a little steep unless it has a fancy engine on it. I have seen similar karts for 4-600 here in SE Nebraska

    Building a Go Kart Jump

:iagree: I’m not saying to go out and make a 45 degree ramp and run your kart over it. I made that mistake when I was 12, I went face first into the gravel on a bike. Just use common sense. Start small and increase the angle to find out what your kart/you can handle. There is a definite point...

    Building a Go Kart Jump

From my experience with SAE Baja racing, I would say that it is a lot less about what the jump looks like, and more about if the kart should be doing jumps. Our mini baja karts have a suspension travel of about 10 inches front and 12 rear, they also have a ground clearance of probably 12 inches...

    Need some advice

well my thought would be that that is way to low of a gear ratio. 3 hp isn't all that much and that is a fairly substantial kart. I would put maybe a 72 tooth or 60 tooth minimum on the axle. Especially if its for a younger child. I'm no expert but what I could see happening is you burning...

    Build planning

Ok so being a freshman in mechanical engineering I like the math. So if it has roughly 208 force pounds how much acceleration does that equate too? Or I guess I am asking how do I visualize a force pound? I know weight has to be factored in so the kart will probably weigh about 375 without a...

    Build planning

Hi all, its probably about time I joined. I have spent way too many hours reading forums on here over the years. I just purchased a mini sprint chassis for 50 bucks that I have intentions of making a kart out of. I would like this cart to be able to do 50mph with ease. So that leads me to my...
