    Go Kart Front wheels

Ok I'm on track now. I was thinking of finding 8" wheels like the 6" wheels I have now. Gonna have to do the 8" steel with hubs. Thanks!

    Go Kart Front wheels

So I am wanting to try the build off for 2016, and I am sourcing parts and such. Stupid question; Where can I find a 8" diameter wheel with a5/8" or 3/4" bore that has the bearing in it? Or should I go with a 4 on 4 hub and wheel set up?

Can I MIG weld 7/8 pipe to 7/8 mild steel?

Get a torch on the carbon side before and after welding. Don't let the joint cool too fast or that carbon steel could get brittle. You can also weld with a helium based shielding gas to help with heat transfer. You will also need to use a higher voltage setting than you would use with carbon...

600cc engine on racing kart frame

Another thing to think of is the braking (friction) coefficient needed as to the weight/speed of the kart. You need sufficent brake power to slow or stop the kart. But bigger is not always the best case. Sure bigger rotors and pads will work more efficiently but if they are too big all they will...

600cc engine on racing kart frame

Maybe you could use that break on the rear axle? I am assuming that chassis doesn't have front brakes already.

600cc engine on racing kart frame

This has been done a few times. Look on YouTube. People have put 1000cc engines on the back of karts before. If you are serious you need to get the engine with the transmission exhaust and the carbs. If there are any wishbone mounts or removable mounts get those also. You are talking about a...

    Increasing Front Track Width

I thought of doing what you described, and i might do just that. The gusset welds look iffy. Plus the axle supports are freaking stupid! They are so bad i can't describe it. Heck one of them is a bolt... Yes a BOLT welded onto the axle and the frame. ??? So the front of the cart will be lower...

    Increasing Front Track Width

Ok I didn't think I would have a problem. I am thinking of completely cutting off the front axle, it is just a tube welded to the bottom of the kart frame. If i do a complete rebuild of the axle it will allow me to switch to a conventional spindle bracket. It has some weird little pieces of tube...

    Increasing Front Track Width

Hey y'all I have a Murry Explorer, 6.0 Tec Powersport, Comet TC, and a live axle. I am wanting to do 2 things: First I want to put a wider front axle on the kart. I at least want it to be as wide as the rear track, really wanting to go 2" wider. Second is I am wanting to increase the front tire...

Well when I do the engine I am going to strip it down. Thought I would take the top off measure it up and weld a roll cage onto the chassis. Now it's just bolted on it is scary. I'm also going to beef up the front and widen the track by 4 inches. Bigger ATV tires front and rear and some sort of...

Yea a trailing arm will be a lot stronger, especially if you plan to have tons of travel like the kart in the pic has. Dodge dakota front cv shafts might work well, they are the style that bolt up. All you would need is a short axle with some flanges on the ends.
